Project Resources

Handwashing training for staff members in healthcare organizations is important for minimizing the spreading of covid-19 within the healthcare settings. The virus spreads through contact and contaminated surfaces, and this is why it is important to train staff members on the proper handwashing skills to minimize the spread of this virus. Effective training of the staff members will require resources to facilitate the training procedures to successfully engage healthcare professionals in this exercise (WHO, 2021). Resource planning is essential for anticipating the resources required to complete the training process effectively. Therefore, the resource plan outlines the details of the resources needed, including labor, equipment and materials, finances, and infrastructure, to complete the project successfully. The resources will be used to their maximum potential to keep the project on time and within the stipulated budget.

Human Resources

Effective training of healthcare professionals on handwashing skills requires trainers who will be in charge of conducting the training process on the health professionals. Experts from government agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World health organization are ideal for training health professionals on handwashing. Their knowledge of the disease and the spreading mechanisms will be essential for educating the staff members at the hospital (CDC, 2021). Healthcare professionals from within the hospital will also be needed to plan and coordinate the training process to ensure that all individuals participate in the training process. These health professionals will be needed to distribute resources, organize teams and facilitate the training process for effectiveness. The employees’ time is also needed so that they avail themselves for the training. Full attendance of the employees is required so that the hospital does not have to invest more resources for other training sessions to accommodate those who do not attend the training (Tartari et al., 2019).

Infrastructure

The hospital needs to have the right infrastructure to ensure the training process is smooth and runs effectively. Therefore, the health organization needs to have a conference area that will accommodate the health professionals within the organization. Further, it is also necessary for the hospital to have electricity and the internet to enable access to internet materials, projecting content on the screening, and training. Handwashing and disease prevention training is an interactive process between the trainers and the staff members (AHRQ, 2021). Therefore, interactive training methods such as presentations, videos, and presentations will improve knowledge acquisition. The use of social medial will also help educate health professionals, share training materials and promote hand hygiene. The conference room will also have different working stations that will allow the trainers to demonstrate handwashing procedures to different health professionals at the hospital.

Equipment and materials

Training materials necessary include brochures, posters, and factsheets containing important information for the staff members being trained. These reading materials will act as reference materials for the participants during the training and after. The factsheets will contain data that will help them understand the current infection levels, interventions, and the impact of the interventions on the infection rate (WHO, 2021). The publications, data, and statistics are also necessary to enable the training procedures, provide background information on covid-19 and reiterate the information. Other materials include supplies such as portable sinks or basins, running water, hand sanitizers, disposable hand towels, water container to catch the water used to wash hands, clean enclosed containers to hold drinkable water, liquid or bar hand soap that may or may not be antibacterial and a covered trash container. The equipment needed for training includes computers, a projector, and a whiteboard within the conference room (PSI, 2021). The equipment will enable the trainers to facilitate the training process so that all staff members have a chance to gain the handwashing skills for infection control within the hospital.

Hand Hygiene “How-To-Guide”

A How-To-Guide is needed in the training process to boost hand hygiene compliance using the behavior-modification techniques. The guide will be a booklet that will be distributed to all health professionals to use and educate patients in their hands. The "best practice" guidelines promote rigorous program compliance and collaboration with other entities to share more information on handwashing (PSI, 2021). The guide will enhance a multidisciplinary team approach for controlling the spread of covid-19. It also contains other resources such as questionnaires for surveying clinical staff and assessing their hand hygiene knowledge. There will also be signage in the handwashing stations that will remind individuals to wash their hands before they go to work and after they interact with patients.

Finances

The health organization will need capital resources that will enable them to acquire the materials and equipment that will facilitate the training. Capital resources are necessary to buy the supplies needed to facilitate the training and secure the necessary infrastructure and labor (CDC, 2021). Therefore, these funds will also be needed to compensate the trainers and other volunteers who will train health professionals to boost their handwashing skills. The finance and accounting department needs to create a budget that will also consider the training process and ensure that enough resources will support these procedures effectively.
