***NOTE: The sections in this template that have the same headings as sections from the Literature Review and Objectives, Strategies and Background papers generally have the same requirements here as in those papers. You should make revisions and edit based on the professor's comments and feedback from those submissions before submitting them here. New sections will be noted in detailed descriptions. The entire paper should be written in third person.
For the title page, follow the guidelines below. Information without brackets should remain as written. The learner should replace the information within the brackets with the requested information, and all prior information and brackets should be removed. The content of the title page should begin about 1/3 the way down the title page.
Hallmark Paper
[Remove brackets & insert Your Full Name Here]
Nightingale College
[Remove brackets & insert Your Course Number, Section & Course Title]
[Remove brackets & insert Your instructor’s name using Professor or Dr. ________]
[Remove brackets & insert Month, Day, Year – this is the date the assignment is due, not the date it is submitted]
Prior to submitting your paper, make sure to remove all instructions in brackets on the following pages.
Final Paper
[ NEW: The introduction to the paper must be 2 paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length) with at least 2 in-text citations and a fully stated purpose. In this section, you should introduce the topic briefly. It is a good idea to give a “road map” for the paper. In this section, include a purpose statement for the whole paper, not the project purpose. The PICOT question should NOT be put here – it will be placed in the third section.]
Project Proposal Topic
[ REVISED from Literature Review: The project proposal section must be at least 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length) with in-text citations. In this section, present an overview of the topic by discussing the topic in general. Explain in detail why this topic is important. Provide statistics and factual evidence about the issue you are trying to address. Briefly state the gap (current practice versus best practice) in nursing practice that was identified.]
Capstone Proposal
[ NEW: The capstone proposal section must be 3 paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length) with at least 2 in-text citations in the section. In this section, describe the project in detail. State your project’s PICOT question and the title of your project. Describe the plan for the project. Introduce your proposal and your chosen interventions.]
Background
Literature Review
[ REVISED from Literature Review: This section must be 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences) with at least 2 in-text citations. Introduce the literature review sections of the paper here. Explain the parts of the PICOT question you did research on. You may want to describe how the literature is organized in this section.]
[From Literature Review : The methods of searching section must be at least 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length). DO NOT WRITE IN FIRST PERSON! This section should describe how the literature search was conducted. For example: “A literature review was conducted using both electronic and manual resources…” Describe how the search for literature was conducted by explaining what databases or search engines were used to find the peer-reviewed articles. Describe what keywords were used; what date range was used to obtain the most current information (remember they must be less than 5 years old); what things were excluded (example: blogs, websites with biased information, etc.).]
Review of the Literature
[ From Literature Review : There must be at least 5 paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length) with 5 in-text citations that correlate with the current, peer-reviewed references used. This will be the bulk of the review. Organization of the material here is important. Write one paragraph for each of the 5 current, peer-reviewed articles. In each, elaborate on the relation to the project topic/PICOT question, as well as what best practices were identified. Integrate key details of each article, demonstrating a clear understanding of the content reviewed. Consider the main takeaways after reading each article as they relate to the project/intervention. This section should outline details of each article and also include the learner’s insight as they relate to the project and PICOT. Also include any other pertinent information about the topic that was discussed in the articles chosen.]
Findings
[ From Literature Review : The findings section must be at least 2 fully formed paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length) with in-text citations. In this section, provide a summary of the most significant findings found in the “Review of the Literature” section. Identify strengths and weaknesses of the literature (for example, small sample sizes that limit the validity of the findings or conclusions that you disagree with as an evaluator); and identify any gaps in the literature found. Begin with “The literature has shown…”]
Objectives
[ From Objectives, Strategies and Background: The objectives section must be at least 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length) and contain at least 1 in-text citation. Introduce and write 3 – 5 SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound) objectives for the project’s population to attain. These are smaller steps toward achieving the PICOT Outcome. None of the objectives can be the same as the PICOT outcome. To make them appropriate for this project, it is best to use verbs from Bloom’s taxonomy. SMART format for these is: Who will be able to do what measurable thing by when. Think about this - for the project to achieve the PICOT outcome, what 3-5 things do the participants need to be able to do?]
Strategies
[ From Objectives, Strategies and Background: The number of required paragraphs in this section is dependent on the number of objectives listed above. For EACH objective, there must be 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length) with in-text citations (3 – 5 paragraphs total). In each paragraph, repeat the objective at the beginning and describe 2 strategies/interventions that you will do to address that objective. Make each strategy specific to the objective it supports. Think about - for the participants to meet their SMART objective, what 2 steps/interventions/activities can be included in the project to help them?”]
Evaluation
[ NEW: (based on information in the Outcome and Evaluation Template) The number of required paragraphs in this section is dependent on the number of objectives listed above. For EACH objective, there must be 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length) with in-text citations (3 – 5 paragraphs total). In each paragraph, describe how one of the SMART objectives will be evaluated. Each objective should have 1 corresponding, aligned evaluation measure.]
Budget
[ NEW: (based on information in the Budget Template) This section must be at least 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length). No intext citations are required in this section. Present all required materials and components needed to successfully complete the project. Include the cost of each item, as well as the total budget amount. For all items, explain why it is necessary and how it will be acquired. This MUST be in paragraph form. DO NOT include tables, charts, or templates.]
Conclusion
[ NEW: (you may consider revising from the conclusions included in your other papers) The conclusion should be at least 3 paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length) and contain at least 2 in-text citations. Summarize at least 3 key points. Although not required, it is suggested learners restate the PICOT question in this section, so the reader is drawn to refocus on the topic/question.]
References
[There must be at least 5 current (within the last 5 years), peer-reviewed references. These may be sources you have also used in your literature review and in your objectives, strategies and background. Use APA-7 formatting specific to reference type, including (but not limited to) alphabetical order and hanging indent. Specific reference examples have been discussed in the webinars.]
