4. Media/social media – Social media’s and traditional media impact on government, elections, voting, etc. What could be improved at the intersection of politics/government and social media?

· Introduction:  Give me a brief introduction and hook to your topic.  What is your topic about generally? (intro to the topic)

Social media plays an important role in the government, election, voting etc. Today I am going to present the impact of social media and traditional media on them and what can be done to improve the situation.

· Empathy:  Taking your topic into account, research how people feel about your chosen topic and what their experience is.  One way to do this may be to look at polling on the topic or to research articles on the topic.  Whatever approach you take though, your task is to look at the topic from another person’s perspective, not just your own.  The goal is to find out where others are coming from, what they hope to achieve and why, what drives them, and what challenges they face regarding your topic.  Basically, research those impacted and their needs in this stage. (the view globally rather than individual).

I believe how people consume news has caused more media bias since, nowadays, various media houses use story framing to influence the audience's comprehension. Presenting a framing can influence racism, classism, and other stereotypes. This similarity relates to priming, which occurs when people are influenced to adopt a specific position on an issue based on what they read or see in the media. For instance, if readers only see news reports about job losses, failed industries, and outsourcing, they will form a negative image of the economy. Although several media frequently display overt prejudice, unconscious bias is more prevalent. This is because journalists frequently face hurdles to impartiality, such as a lack of access to all relevant facts.

· Define:  Clearly state the needs and problems faced by those impacted by your topic.  Analyze what you found out in the Empathy stage and synthesis your research down to the core issues.  Make sure you have a clear problem statement by the end of this stage as well. (identify the problem within a topic giving solution which include the following who, what and why)

· Who is the customer or person you want to help? Who are you focused on? (Be as specific as possible.)

· What is the problem? What do they need?

· Why is this need important?

Ideate:  Take a 360-viewpoint approach.  The goal is to look at all ideas, even if they seem a little out there.  Don't be judgmental in this step, as the point is to look at as many potential ideas as possible surrounding your topic and to think outside the box.  In this step you are now generating or brainstorming ideas for your problem statement in the Define stage versus just looking at what others think.  I am looking for innovative solutions. ( searching various techniques to solve a problems)
