Thesis & Subtopics

Directions: Read the directions for this assignment, so you meet the criteria. You’ll need to develop a solid thesis statement.  The thesis statement is the last sentence of your introduction.  A thesis statement is not your opinion or a matter of fact, it is a clear and concise statement (argument) that you support in your paper ( see example thesis statements ). Use the thesis generator to help develop your thesis statement. You need to create 3-5 subtopics based on the research you have done. This is the body of your research. Replace the subtopic headings below with your subtopic labels. For example, a student studying the effects of overtime on nursing staff burnout might have collected research that leads to three subtopics: Statistics of Nursing OvertimeCauses of Nursing Burnout, and Psychological Effects of Burnout. Fully develop these sections. Delete these instructions before you save and submit your work.

Provide a brief introduction identifying your topic area, your two disciplines, and a working thesis statement on the position you are taking in this project. Your thesis statement must be clear and is usually the last sentence of your introduction.

Subtopic 1

Replace Subtopic 1 with your subtopic title. Include a topic sentence that describes what is covered under this subtopic. Fully develop this section based on the results you have conducted for this project (typically 2-3 paragraphs). Your subtopics should be related to one or both disciplines and it should be clear how this subtopic supports your thesis statement. This subtopic section needs to be fully supported with evidence (citations and references) from your research. Do not draw conclusions or inferences in this section, only provide the synthesized information from your research. You will draw conclusions that lead to your thesis statement in the discussion section of the draft paper next week. Provide a transition sentence at the end of this section that leads to the next subtopic.

Subpoint 2

Repeat the directions from subtopic 1 for your subtopic 2 section.

Subpoint 3

Repeat the directions from subtopic 1 for your subtopic 3 section. Include more subtopics if needed.

Conclusion

A brief conclusion to highlight the key points. Revisit your thesis statement and subtopics that will be covered in the research paper.
