STATISTICS: THE ADDITION RULE
Smallville High School has an enrollment of 2200 students. Of these, 615 are seniors and 1180 are males. Of the seniors, 325 are males.
1. Are the events “selecting a male student” and “selecting a senior” mutually exclusive? Why or why not?
2. If a Smallville High School student is selected at random, find the probability that the student is a male or a senior. Be sure to include work for full credit.
