Requirements

Create a personal professional portfolio. (Links to an external site.) This is to benefit YOU and is obviously somewhat subjective. For example, if you are further into your career like myself, use this exercise to spruce things up if you haven’t for a while. I review/and tweak my resume as well as my social (linked-in) profiles at least once every month. If you are interested in opening or expanding your own business, this project can be tailored to suit the needs of your potential or existing business.

The content shall include the following:

· Create and present an elevator pitch (Links to an external site.). This is due on or before the last day of class, and the write-up should be included in the portfolio. The speech itself should be 1-2 mins max and is due by the last day of class. This section is worth 5% of the portfolio grade (a youtube video or short audio file is fine for this)

· The front page of your linked in profile (Links to an external site.). If you don’t have one, now’s the time to create it! (Links to an external site.) This section is worth 3% of the portfolio grade.

· A sample job posting and industry analysis (Links to an external site.) for a job/career you aspire to apply for. Search indeed.com (Links to an external site.), linked-in and other sites for jobs. Glassdoor (Links to an external site.) is an excellent research for company/industry profiles and analysis. The analysis section should be about 1 paragraph or so long. This section is worth 3% of the portfolio grade.

· A sample cover letter (Links to an external site.) for a job you intend on applying for. This can also be an investor pitch (Links to an external site.) if you are interested in opening your own business. This section is worth 3% of the portfolio grade.

· A copy of your current resume. (Links to an external site.) If you don’t have one, now’s your chance to create one! This section is worth 3% of the portfolio grade.

· A sample thank you e-mail (Links to an external site.) for after an interview This section is worth 3% of the portfolio grade.
