Assignment W8 – Submit Your Research Proposal

You will need to submit your Research Proposal on week 8. This will be your final assessment for BRM II.

If you have already started working on your dissertations you can submit your Research Proposal at any time. The Research Proposal Form (EU Dissertation Proposal Form word document) can be found on Week 5. Your work for the BRM I course is absolutely relevant.

Students will select a suitable research project (that will ultimately can be their Dissertation topic) and structure, write and submit this as a Research Proposal. The tutor needs to approve the subject and allocate a pass grade.

I. Proposed Dissertation Title: The title (tentative) should be precise to allow the reader to comprehend the subject matter of the work.

II. Research Question or Hypothesis: State clearly what your research interest is. Define your research question/hypothesis and the main objectives of your research. Please also explain why the research is important (significance of Research) and for who; does it add to the current state of knowledge; or is it of practical help to, say, business organizations or a specific business organization (Min 300 words).

III. Review of Literature/Background: Make a synthesis of the contributions made in your research field by accredited scholars. Describe how your intended research will complement and expand on the current literature, and what contributions you intend to make to the existing knowledge (Min 800 words).

Note: Should you opt for a Business Plan, then provide a full analysis of the business conditions.

IV. Research Methodology: Clearly indicate the methods and techniques which you are planning to use to gather information and investigate the identified problem. (Min 800 words).

V. Selected Bibliography: Please indicate a representative list of the main bibliographical sources you intend to utilize for your dissertation. Please provide full citations. (Min 20 sources)

VI. Research and Writing Timeline: Indicate your expected research timetable: starting date, research time, data analysis time, writing time, editing time, date of first draft submission, expected defense time. You may use a Gantt chart. (Min 100 words.)

VII. Ethics: How does your research relate to the ethical aspects of your subject matter? (Min 100 words.)

Submission Deadline: Sunday 20 September 2020, 23:59 CEST

Assessment Weighting: 60%

Suitable Reference System: Harvard Assessment Criteria.

Credit will be given for evidence of:

1. Library/Internet based research. Try to use a mixture of resources - books, articles as well as the internet.

2. Understanding of the topic.

3. Concise and clear presentation. Acknowledge any quotes, ideas or arguments that are not your own using the Harvard system. Include a list of references.

4. Originality and a critical and questioning approach. It is important to be objective and to support statements with evidence.

5. A logical structure.

 Cover, Table of Contents, References and Appendix are excluded of the total wordcount.

 Font: Arial 12,5 pts.

 Text alignment: Justified.

 The in-text References and the Bibliography have to be in Harvard’s citation style.
