SUBJECT: Workforce Transportation Habits

Our organization has the most numbers of employees making us the biggest private employer in this metropolitan area with 43,500 employed workers. Consequently, we have had a huge impact on our local traffic. As a result, transportation officials recently requested we come up with ways to ease it. It was important for us as an organization to analyze the employee's transportation trends and attitudes as an initial step towards identifying possible solutions. Figures 1 to 4 summarize the data collected randomly from all workers on their various transportation needs and incentives for public transport.

FINDINGS Figure 1: Employees' Carpool Habits

As illustrated, the majority of the employees do not carpool; which is a major cause of the city traffic. However, a good number of them carpool, which cause congestion. Having a high number of employees who do not carpool then there is a need for changes that would help in reducing traffic.

From the above column graph, the highest number of employees uses public transport. However, there is still a large number of employees who need incentives for them to adopt public transport that helps to reduce traffic.

This data was collected from those respondents who use public transportation randomly or never. As illustrated above, the highest number of employees is not willing to adopt public transport despite the changes or incentive. Cleanliness in public vehicles is the least impactful incentive while reduction of commuter time is the greatest incentive. It is also impactful to check on public transport safety and fare charges.

As illustrated above only a small portion of the workforce would use telecommuting as an option. To the majority of the employees, it is not an alternative

Conclusion Having reviewed and analyzed data from all our employees' nature of work and incentives to reduce traffic then it is true to accept that our employees have an impact on the traffic. The impact though small will help reduce traffic to a great extent. The following are the rational solution to help ease traffic in the city in relation to our employees.

Solution 1: Reduce commuter times Majority of the employees would use public transport if it would be convenient in terms of saving time to connect from one place to another. This would include reducing waiting time for the bus to fill up or delays in pick u and dropping points.

Solution 2: Promote telecommuting Since more than half of the employees' work can be telecommuted then we should encourage them to work from home or away from cities from the town thus reduce traffic.

We look forward as an organization for your resourceful input in the above issue as well as further discussion on the proposed recommendations.
