For this assignment each student will find an individual who fits one of following three types of global leadership: (1) Entrepreneurial Leader, (2) Big Business Leader, or (3) Nonprofit Leader

Find a leader who has achieved recognizable success in a particular field or sector and one whose accomplishments has an international dimension. Also try to limit the search to individuals who have most of their accomplishments occur over the last 30 years.

You will then do a global leadership analysis paper that provides information on or answers to questions relating to the 8 areas below. You specifically want to show how these areas might have contributed to their success.

1. The individual’s background or upbringing.

2. Their educational background and non-professional international experience

3. Their networking activities or work with community or national organizations

4. Discuss their professional work achievements that directly affected their reputation

5. Why do you consider this individual a global leader?

6. How would you categorize his/her leadership style?

7. Which network, cultural, or institutional factors helped this leader succeed?

8. What can we learn about leadership in general from reviewing this leader’s accomplishments?

Format guidelines:

· Double spaced, font size 12, 1-inch standard margin on four sides of the paper.

· Sub-headings are required

· Don’t forget page numbers!

· Exhibits should be labeled sequentially and in the order they are discussed in the text.

· Include a title page with your full name

· The total length of the paper (all inclusive) must not exceed 10 pages.

Grading criteria:

· Use of concepts learned in class

· Thoroughly addressing all the questions

· Quality of the research on the chosen global leader

· Overall professionalism of the manuscript (adherence to the structure/format guidelines, references, writing, etc.)

· You MUST include in-text citations throughout your paper to link the material to your sources of information, as well as a bibliography (references) at the end (sorted alphabetically by author & date). Use APA Style. Citations in the paper are in the (Author, date) format—for example: “(Simon, 2002)”.

Presentation:

· Each student will present his/her paper in a brief oral presentation (no longer than 7 minutes). A short Q&A may follow (if allowed by time constraints).

· Since time is limited, do not give many details. Only include the most important points in your presentation: (1) Brief background; (2) The individual as a global leader; (3) The main takeaway from your analysis (what we can learn about global leadership).

· A printout of your slides as well as a bibliography should be given to the professor. The title page of your presentation should list the paper title, the date, and your full name.

· When presenting, indicate the outside sources used.
