Business Finance Research Paper
HP 3
Hewlett-Packard Aaron Bryant BUS 5410: Managerial Finance 3/18/19 Introduction The primary objective of this paper is to present the strategic, accounting and financial analysis of Hewlett-Packard (HP). The report highlights the firm’s growth, strategic issues, and future business performance. The company is in a very critical moment, and that is why it has split its operations into two main areas with the primary aim of increasing competitive advantage and taking over the technological world. For this company to be effective and meet its set goals, as a manager, I would have to come up with the strategy that to invest the money (Chowdhury, 2003). The company has to also split its operations in preparing for various aspects or challenges that might affect its operations. Furthermore, the paper comprehensively assessed the technique that HP has adopted depending on the performance and the strategic outcome. The document also presents a feasible plan for the company activities that are affected by both internal and external environment. The paper is divided into three major sections, strategic, accounting and financial analysis. In the strategic analysis, the comprehensive internal and external analysis was conducted to evaluate the market opportunities that are important for HP. I evaluated and examined the company technique depending on the amount given. The organization has adopted new financial and accounting strategies, which has helped in planning and budgeting. The strategy is the reason why the company is where it is today; without planning there is no way the company can meet its goals and still retain its competitive position. Investing $300 million involves an understanding of different market and competition issues. One thing that I would have to do is coming up with the best mechanism to control or manage risks. In this sense, the firm marketing strategy will have to effective and comprehensive to attract as many people as possible. The restructuring and rebranding will be likely to help the company maintain its competitive advantage and increase its market share.
HP Company Background
HP (Hewlett-Packard) Company is a technological company with the most significant market share; its principal office is in Pal Alto, California. The company has specialized in producing hardware, software and other type of services for other companies and customers across the world (BBC, 2014). The main products that the company produces are laptops, PCs, printers and photocopiers, networking products, imaging products, and enterprise standard servers. The firm also offers consultation services to SMEs and computer vendors (Buzilla, 2012).
HP divided its brand into two with the primary aim of attracting and retaining more customers across the globe. This also gives the company an opportunity to refocus and rebrand. HP Inc. has emphasized on the personal system and printing services. The company vision is "to create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere — every person, every organization, and every community around the globe" (HP Inc., 2017). HP has also faced much competition from companies such as Dell, Apple, and Sony. Different forces have driven the competitiveness in the industry. These are the adoption of modern technology and customer service.
I decided to invest in this company because of its current market share and its promising future. I believe the company profitability will increase hence meeting its vision and mission.
