Mission, Vision and You

Evaluate whether the company's actions seem to align with their vision and mission statements.

Amazon is the biggest online retailer company in the world. Amazon vision statement: "Our vision is to be earth's most customer-centric company; to build a place where people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online" (Hull, 2012). The mission and vision statement for the company is observed to be customer focused. The founder of this company Jeff Bezos has publicly made a declaration that the force behind the success of this organization is that it has been in a position to follow its mission and vision statement. The mission and vision statement have largely played a pivotal role behind the success of this organization. Time and time again we have seen Amazon listen to its customers in giving them what they want. For example, faster shipping, easier transactions, and even decreasing the minimum purchasing requirement for free shipping. Therefore, we are in a position to state that Amazon success is due to the fact that it is in a position to align its mission and vision statement which is centered towards meeting the customer needs.

Examine how the mission and vision of the organization might affect or guide employees in the company.

One of the key things to note about mission and vision statement of an organization is that they are used in providing the business principles, purpose and a good framework which is essential in sustaining the operations of the business. Mission and vision statement are usually adopted by both Non-profit and for-profit entities since they inspire the employees towards achieving a certain level of performance rating in the market (Lavoie, 2017). For most organization, the mission and vision statements are tied within the achievable goals for the employees and will impact the performance of an organization. The main function of the mission statement of an organization is to ensure that it is in a position to address all the key needs of the stakeholders and for this case we are going to have a look at the employees. For instance, a business makes a focus on having satisfied employees, it is more likely that it will experience a good performance index in the market as compared to their rivals. Though the vision and mission statement plays a key role in an organization, there is a greater problem in the business due to the fact that there is a rapid change in technology which is forcing firms to change their mission and vision statement in order to meet the needs of the employees in order to experience sustainable growth for the organization.

Describe the company's culture based on your analysis.

An organization corporate culture can be defined as a set of values and tradition which are in a position to have an influence on the behavior of an employee. Amazon is a company which is said to have an organizational culture which enables it to effectively make a quick response to the demands of their customers in the E-Commerce Market. One of the key things to note about the corporate culture of Amazon is that it pushes the employees to go beyond their set traditions in order to come up with bright ideas which are essential in the development of solutions (Lavoie, 2017). As there is the rapid development of technology, the company is continually seeking for fresh talents in order to help it in running its operation. In order for this company to be in a position to be in a position to maintain a productive and a creative workforce, there is need for it to reinforce its organizational culture in order to give room for the development of the human resource so that it will be able to maintain a long-term competitive advantage over its rivals.
