Why is Business Communications Important?
Every aspect of the role we serve in the workforce relies on effective communication. Our ability to communicate well is oftentimes the determining factor between our success – or not.
If we are unable to communicate the wealth of knowledge, experience, and skill we possess, our colleagues and employers are simply unable to acquire the transfer of information otherwise achieved through effective communication.
Effective communication is critical in all aspects of our lives - the manner in which we communication can mean the difference between our success or unnecessary struggle and frustration.

WHY COMMUNICATION MATTERS
Ensuring we are extremely well-versed in how to communicate effectively in the business world will help us as we face common problems or issues in the workplace
Our contemporary business landscape is a dynamic one. This also leaves every business vulnerable to problems and challenges. While business problems can be a catalyst for change, when they are rooted from ineffective communication skills – it causes unnecessary problems
Our leaders, managers, and colleagues come from a lifetime of unique experiences and backgrounds. That in and of itself can be cause for misunderstandings – if we are not extremely skilled in effective business communications.

IMPLICATIONS OF EFFECTIVE BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
It’s Our Responsibility
A company’s diverse workforce effects how messages are delivered and received. Just as in any type of communication, the words we chose, tone and inflection, nonverbal cues, and ensuring the receiver has received our message the way it was intended is vital. it is our responsibility to ensure we learn and acquire sufficient knowledge about other cultures to ensure that our communication practices are not only successful, but void of any unintentional disrespect. The ethical, cultural, and legal implications that businesses face is vast because the way we communicate can either add amazing value or lead to arduous ramifications.
Week 1
Common miscommunication can and does result in unnecessary problems. According to Bovee and Thill (2014), some tips for ensuring we are clearly communicating include:
Providing practical, useful information
Presenting our message (or information) in a clear, concise manner
Using concrete language to deliver facts and specific details to ensure the information we are communicating is clear, rather than vague or general material
Developing any requests in a specific manner, so the receiver is clear about our expectations
Ensuring that the information we are presenting is succinctly persuasive, to ensure we’ve captivated their attention

Adhere to your instructor’s specific requirements. In time, you will notice that all are providing invaluable information to add to you toolbox of knowledge
Follow directions specifically. Avoid being creative. Academic writing leaves little room for creativity. Strive to use formal language and adhere to APA guidelines. It is the best insurance buffer available
Use templates and sample APA papers until you become accustomed to APA’s requirements. Rather than trying to memorize it all now, focus on learning and use the resources we offer to your advantage, but avoid ignoring the vital importance of APA guidelines
I’ve seen far too many students continue to loose points because they choose to
