3. Research, Knowledge, Analysis and Synthesis

(a) Interpret and synthesise relevant information and data from credible sources.
(b) Define, interpret and explain the classical explanation of macroeconomics. Compare and contrast the classical explanation with the macroeconomic model of your choice. Include appropriate models and graphs (AD-AS, IS-LM etc) to support your discussion.
(c) Evaluate macroeconomic model’s usefulness/limitations in explaining macroeconomic fluctuations of output, inflation, unemployment etc and their influence on economic policies over various time periods.
(d) Discuss and justify how your chosen macroeconomic model is an improvement (or not) over the classical explanation of macroeconomics - recognising the difficulties in being conclusive (reasons for this) and evaluate (strengths, weaknesses) the relevance of the models in the analysis of past as well as the current economic environment.
