Narrator You are continuing your work as an organizational consultant for RPZ Marketing.Today you are going to be meeting with Jaclyn Rialto. Jaclyn is the top sales representative for RPZ Marketing. Her job is to bring in new clients. She previously worked for RPZ Social Media Analytics.You are also going to be meeting with Charlie Handler. Charlie is the Operations Manager at RPZ Marketing, and he also worked previously at RPZ Social Media Analytics. Charlie is in charge of organizing resources at RPZ. When sales reps like Jaclyn bring in new clients, he assigns the clients to marketing consultants. Charlie's job has gotten a lot more complicated since the merge, and he is having a hard time distributing resources effectively. Today, Charlie has asked you to stop by and give him some advice.

Charlie Come on in - have a seat. I am glad to finally meet this organizational consultant that everyone has been talking about. I am Charlie Handler, Operations Manager, and this is Jaclyn Rialto. She is our top sales person and a total rock star.

Jaclyn Charlie exaggerates. It is very nice to meet you.

Charlie I have called you here today because we need your help in dealing with resource issues. Jaclyn is doing her job too well and bringing in new clients.

Jaclyn I have been lucky lately. I have been landing some great new accounts. One of them is Suzanne's Organic Cupcakes. Have you heard of them? They are a great local company that is looking to expand.

Charlie The problem is that all our new contracts want to focus intensively on social media marketing.

Jaclyn And I do not see a problem with that. We are a marketing company that does social media marketing.

Charlie Yes, but we are having a resource issue. Here is the problem. We have two groups of marketing consultants here at RPZ. The first group consists of consultants from RPZ Social Media Analytics. They have deep expertise and experience in social media. The second group, consists of the original consultants from Genaflek, who have little or no social media marketing experience.

Jaclyn Well Why not assign the new clients to the first group?

Charlie I wish I could. All the consultants from RPZ Social Media are booked solid.

Jaclyn Well, what about the Genaflek consultants? Do not any of them have any bandwidth?

Charlie Some of them have a lot of bandwidth. But they do not have the skills to do the kind of social media work our new clients want.

Jaclyn There are 38 of them Charlie! Are you saying that none of them have the qualifications to handle these new accounts?

Charlie Some of them have a little social media experience. But not much. Would you really want to give a plum client like Suzanne's Organic Cupcakes to someone who just has a passing knowledge of SEO?

Jaclyn No, I would not. But what else are we supposed to do? We cannot turn away these clients.

Charlie Here is where we need your help. So we have a situation where I cannot assign the new clients to the Genaflek consultants because they are inexperienced. And I cannot assign them to the experienced RPZ consultants because they are booked solid. We need you to help us figure out an outside-the-box solution to this problem.

Jaclyn And we need a sustainable solution. The problem will happen again and again if we do not fix it.

Charlie Exactly! So what do you think we should do?
