Introduction

Research Hypotheses [Olivia]

The Purpose of our research hypotheses was to allow us to predict the research outcomes to the questions regarding the impact of COVID-19. By creating these hypotheses we can further understand how COVID-19 has impacted our global communities and understand the steps taken to reduce death and contagion rates. Through gathering data from 61 counties randomly selected around the globe the hypotheses we predict is as follows;

· Developing countries with low literacy rates and high poverty rates have been more susceptible to contracting COVID-19, and will thus have a higher death rate than those in first world countries.

· Countries with women standing as leaders in either the position of government heads or head of the health ministry have done significantly better than in those countries that have men in the same position.

· Countries encouraging house quarantine, strict distancing precautions, and mandatory facial coverings can control the virus more effectively than those with lenient regulations

· Countries that have a more left-leaning government as heads were better able to support the country population, and thus helping to reduce the overall contagion rate.
