- Text4: On August 27, 2021, at approximately 1025 hours, Officer Mann received a burglary call from Florence Dispatch via a mobile data computer to respond to 2931 E. Tannehill Drive, Florence, Alabama 35632. Upon arrival to the residence, Officer Mann observed a African-American male standing on the drive-way just in front of 2931 E. Tannehill Drive. The person waved to Officer Mann. At that point, Officer Mann exited his vehicle and the African-American male stated that he was the 911 caller, and he identified himself as Wendell Kirkpatrick. Mr. Kirkpatrick stated that once he arrived home, he noticed that his front door had been forcibly kicked open. When he noticed the door ajar and the muddy shoe prints on the door, he backed from the residence and called 911. Officer Mann waited for Officer Dunn to arrive for back up. Both officers approached the front north door to the residence. As officers approached, the door was still ajar and noticeable shoe prints were left on the door. Officers entered the adjoining room to the front, north door. Upon entering, officers cleared the entire residence for persons.

- narr: Officers searched each room to ensure that no one was in the residence. Upon entering the master bedroom, officers noticed that the top right drawer of chest of drawers was pulled out. After clearing the residence, Officer Mann talked to Mr. Kirkpatrick. He stated that he left for a business trip on August 25 at 0600 hours. Mr. Kirkpatrick drove to the airport in his 2012 Honda Civic. Mr. Kirkpatrick has another vehicle that stays in his drive-way, however. That vehicle is a 2002 Chrysler Concorde. When Mr. Kirkpatrick returned from the airport on August 27, 2014 at approximately 1023 hours, he got out of his vehicle and walked up to the front door. Mr. Kirkpatrick then noticed the front door had been kicked in. Fearing that someone was still inside, he walked to the driveway that is in front of his residence and then called 911. It must be noted that Mr. Kirkpatrick's residence stands on a five acre wooded lot. The closet neighbor is about 1 1/2 miles east of his residence. Officer Mann asked Mr. Kirkpatrick to enter his residence to verify if any item(s) had been stolen. Before Mr. Kirkpatrick entered, Officer Mann gave Mr. Kirkpatrick some latex gloves to put on to prevent him from touching any object in the residence. The drawer was still open, and when Mr. Kirkpatrick observed the plain view contents of the drawer, he immediately said, "My weapon is gone!". Mr. Kirkpatrick reported that his Glock 22, .40 caliber, is kept in his top right drawer of his chest of drawers. Mr. Kirkpatrick also reported that his two centimeter in diameter 10K Bella Madre Gold Necklace, which he purchased from Zales, was also stolen from the top right chest of drawers. After he checked each room for additional stolen items, Mr. Kirkpatrick stated that currently he is not missing any other items besides the two previously listed. Mr. Kirkpatrick supplied Officer Mann with weapon's serial number, which was entered into NCIC on August 27, 2021, at 1300 hours. Mr. Kirkpatrick was informed that if additional items were found to be stolen, he was to call the police department to make a supplemental report. Officer Mann fingerprinted the chest of drawers, but there were no viable prints of use to collect. No other items in the residence had been tampered with by the suspects to Mr. Kirkpatrick's knowledge. Mr. Kirkpatrick does NOT have a picture of the necklace. There were no individual identifying marks on the necklace. Mr. Kirkpatrick currently does not know of any viable suspects. Mr. Kirkpatrick only informed his immediate family members and his business associates of his travel plans. Mr. Kirkpatrick does NOT have an alarm system, nor does he have a pet. Mr. Kirkpatrick stated that he would be able to secure his front door temporarily. He intends on calling Lowes' Department store to come replace the door and frame.
