Competency Statements and Learning Objectives

Competency Statement Competency Learning Objectives (LO) Where you will

demonstrate your learning:

By analyzing research on AWS, you will determine if AWS is the best solution for a company through the assessment of advantages and disadvantages of AWS, AWS competitors, and case study results of similar companies that implemented AWS.

Competency 1 – You will design performant and resilient architectures.

Learning Objective 1 – Choose reliable/resilient storage. Learning Objective 2 – Determine how to design decoupling mechanisms using AWS services. Learning Objective 3 – Determine how to design a multi-tier architecture solution. Learning Objective 4 – Determine how to design high availability and/or fault tolerant architectures. Learning Objective 5 – Choose performant storage and databases. Learning Objective 6 – Design solutions for elasticity and scalability. Learning Objective 7 – Apply caching to improve performance.

Competency 1 – Competency Assessment

By applying research on AWS and cloud computing, you will author a presentation on steps and strategies for migrating to a cloud computing environment and a paper on general security

Competency 2 – You will design secure applications and architectures.

Learning Objective 8 – Determine how to secure application tiers. Learning Objective 9 – Determine how to secure data. Learning Objective 10 – Define the networking

demonstrate your learning:

risks of cloud computing, risks in the shared responsibility model, and AWS security tools that mitigate those risks.

infrastructure for a single VPC application.

By applying research on AWS, you will compile a list of resources for users on AWS services and summarize a comprehensive report on migrating to AWS enterprise cloud solutions in the form of an executive summary.

Competency 3 – You will design cost- optimized and operationally excellent architectures.

Learning Objective 11 – Design Cost-Optimized Architectures. Learning Objective 12 – Specify Secure Applications and Architectures. Learning Objective 13 – Define Operationally Excellent Architectures.
