1. The first main point of your speech should describe the what of your issue or topic (what it is, who is involved, etc.). The second main point explains the why (why is this important). The third main point describes how (how is this problem being addressed). Remember, you are not persuading your audience to take action; you are telling us about what’s being done to make a difference.

2. You must cite at least three different sources of evidence. Of your three sources, at least two must be dated within the last year. In addition to listing them in the references section at the end of your preparation outline, orally cite your sources during your speech.

3. You must have an introduction with all five components, three main points, and a conclusion with all three components. Each main point has two subpoints. The evidence should be written out in full sentence (one full sentence per lined).
