Supply Chain Operation
Process Mapping Assignment
Assignment #1 (10 points):
Write a narrative describing the process illustrated in the diagram below.
Answer:
Hiring from outside sources is shown schematically in this graphic using a series of interviews. The procedure has been broken down into three sections: the initialization and completion (or input and output), the action itself, and the decision-making that follows. As shown by the direction of the arrows, the recruiting process will go from left to right. Each of these classes is represented by a unique shape that details the extent to which its primary components are protected. Presentation of resumes for assessment and scoring is the first step in the recruiting interview process. The next step is an interview with the prospective employee. The interview phase involves selecting candidates for an interview based on their CV reviews and ratings. Applicants whose resumes get good marks will be invited to an interview. At the same time, those who do not fulfill the criteria will be notified of the outcome of the review and scoring process. Applicants will be graded during the interview, and a final decision on whether to extend an offer will be made based on those grades. Candidates who are not accepted will be notified of the decision, ultimately resulting in their dismissal, while those who fare well will be invited to negotiate their terms and offered a letter of employment.
Assignment #2 (10 points)
Using the process described below, fill in the text boxes within the colored areas of the process map on the following page to illustrate the process narrative below. Be sure to give your diagram a descriptive title.
Students are required to prepare and submit registration forms. The administration reviews forms for completeness. Completed forms are sent to the registrar to verify all appropriate details. Incomplete forms are returned to the student.
The registrar will determine if minimum standards are met. If the minimum standards are not met, the student’s registration is rejected. The registrar prepares a rejection letter, sends it to the student, and adds the letter to the student’s personal file.
Approved registrations are forwarded to faculty advisors for further evaluation. Faculty advisors make the final decision on admission. Based on the decision, Faculty Advisors will prepare acceptance or rejection letters to send to students and add to students’ personal files.
Replace each of the “Text” items with the correct process step in the diagram on the next page.
