Introduction

In the beginning of the class we started with single player rollover where we learn the strategy we should apply during the multiplayer. In the single player we could rollback but during multiplayer we cannot rollback to change our decisions. There is fixed timing for rollover that is every Sunday at 11:59PM each week. The positive part is that we used to get a reminder for each rollover from smartsims before two days so that we put the data on time. This way makes us more comfortable and we won’t be missing the date and time for rollover. As mentioned we cannot roll back but we can check our decisions offline anytime and rollback so that we may use the correct strategy to earn as much profit as we can for the company. While doing the assignment we should think as a businessman and take the decisions wisely. In my personal view this assignment makes us think critically and going to help us in future if we run our business or else to manage a team by taking correct decisions in appropriate time.

As multiplayer was a group work, we made a group of four people and registered our name in smartisms via email and launch our company. We decided to launch a carpet company as Himalayan carpet, whose speciality is that its made of pure wool. Although we use the pure wool to run our business it is environment friendly and won’t hamper any animals. We are planning to run a sustainable business which may run in a long run as well as may not affect any aspect of nature. For the proper and coordinated work we made various meetings and discussed in class as well for the better result. The best part of the team work is everyone have different prospective and different view which results the better result at the end. We appreciated each other views and acknowledge the data the put during the proper rollover time.

How can I apply Mike Bikes in Real Business world?

Playing the business re-enactment, I got a lot of information about running an organisation in a real world which helped me developing my skills in market or business sectors. In the process of each rollover I figured out that it is difficult to start a business and sustain in the real global competitive world. Its necessary to run a business effectively and efficiently by taking proper action in a right time which is not so easy. We never know the outcome until it comes in the market and which may result either positive or negative. We should be always prepared for both result. The problems and hindrance make you stronger to work harder and get the good result next time. Difficulties comes and goes so should be optimistic and keep on working so that success comes towards you. There comes a point where we need to be wise and move on therefore, we should be always ready for whatever comes on the path.

Analytical skills

In my point of view, skills are essential in this amusement. Without the talent and knowledge, we cannot be effective. Examining each record was very risky as there were various factors we should think off that will influence the product such as price of the product in various segments, marketing and promoting, specification of products, PR record to certain level which I learnt from experimentation. Clearly there is no such things as records yet there is some elective information, for instance, cash related declarations and so forth; thusly, upgrading this capacity is extremely basic for accountants.

In addition, to essentially research my own execution is something different I have picked up from this redirection. The basic thing is that you must constantly look at the results with a fundamental finding paying attention to whether you are at the 1 position in your world or the class. When you stop essentially separating your execution and content with the results, it suggests you quit pushing ahead. Regardless, all the productive experts are differentiating. They are always creative, innovative and search for changes constantly.

Communication skills- Team work

As this is the part of group assignment it is necessary to work as a team and take decisions together. We were four members in a group (Anjila, Dilasha , Rabin and Bikram). For the better result and every value, we kept, we tried doing offline and evaluating our data we kept so that we get the appropriate result at the end. we all were so motivated and eager in getting good marks in this assignment as the group presentation was not that well. We wanted to do well in the subject, so we did lots of meetings and discussions and gathered each other point of view. I can say it was effective as that helped to gain some new idea and information’s via my team members. We made the list of the factors that might affect our profit and SHV and researched about each factor. There was a point where sometimes we may not agree in view of other so there was disagreement but at the end we used to find solutions that won’t affect the feelings of team members. It was great to work with them as a group.

Achievement

Mike’s bike simulation gave me the brief idea of how business is operating in real world. All the decision we made could determine the success or failure of the business, so that analytical approach was essential. I also learned how to read all different report and which report is related to different category and the impact of issuing shares and pay the dividend is so important for keeping the shareholder values up.

Challenges

Multi-player is much hard to predict the outcome compare to single player. Competing against 6 different companies and their decisions are so unpredictable. Even we did make good decision, still hard to be rank 1 in world. Production management and the price of the mountain bike was hardest decision to make, because it was basically depends on luck.

Decision making

We did this assignment with mutual understanding and hard work of each team member. We were so concerned about the expenditure in each factor of the advertisement and PR Relation (TV, Internet, Magazines). Brand, quality, efficiency and supply channel also affects the quantity of the buying of a product by the customers. We should always evaluate each year results and make a proper decision next year by gaining the love of the customers by giving them quality products in the suitable price. While taking decisions we lost some customers due to low production, so we acknowledge where we are lacking behind and tried to improve our decisions. Through this assignment decisions making capacity of the person will be better as we can learn so many things that can be implemented in a real world

Websites and videos

There were various videos about mikes bike in YouTube as well as in KOI module which helped me throughout the assignment. The manual videos gave us basic idea where we should invest more and how it works in the real world. Through the sites, readings, videos I understood that the result may vary due to competitor’s decisions as well. Not only the videos and sites, single player rollover gave us much knowledge about the software and how it works and what we should be focused on.

Beginning of Multiplayer rollover

At the beginning of this assignment we launched our product as “ADV2 ” which now will compete against five firm i.e. The Lucky Three, Fast Pedal, firm 4, firm5 and firm 6 in mountain segment. This time all the firms had same amount of sales and price for the products which is $700 per product with some sales of 18000 along with same percentage of awareness, distribution, quality, delivery and so on. All firms had same shareholder value of 11.14.

Year 2019

The decisions for the first year looks simple and easy where it is delicate as well because it is the starting of the game and starting of running our own company. This round will decide the valuable position for the game and it is the starting of reviewing our decisions. This year we were only selling on Mountain segment (adv2). We decided to increase the price of our product than recommended default price. We were also concerned about the advertisement and public relation about the product so that we gain more customers.

After this decision we were able to have profit of $829,738 after tax with an earning of $0.830 per share. There was the cumulating change in SHV i.e. 22.5% with an increment on the SHV of the company. It got raised to 13.65 and we were able to be on first position.

The first result was satisfactory and we get more motivated for the coming year. The awareness of our produt was 38% , and the price was higher than our four compititors where as there is just $4 difference in price with the lucky three with 18% percentage of awareness of the product.The SHV of firm 4 firm 5 and firm 6 is the lowest 12.02 and rest of the companies are chasing us with the SHV of 13.65.

Things to improve next year

We decided to spend more on the advertisement to make customers aware of the product as recommended. We considered that the demand of our product is quite higher than the others, so we should be more careful about the production so that there wouldn’t be any lost sale.

Year 2020

Due to previous year result we were motivated and more courageous to get good result this time as well. This year as well we increased the product price along with the increment on the expenditure on advertisement and PR to seek more customers.

The sales increased than previous year, we were happy that we were going on right path. We decided to give retail margin of maximum 25% to all three stores (discount shop, Bike shop, sports store) without any other extra support. We spend $1.25 million on branding and the awareness index of this year was 41%. The cumulative change on SH was 45.3% whereas the lowest was 2.2%. The demand forecast accuracy was 98%. We decided to spend only on magazines to increase Public relation thinking it’s the best way to reach out toward customers.

The result came good, we had no lost sales this time which is the good sign as we fulfil the demand of our product in the market. we were able to achieve highest SHV and profit after tax of $2,964,679. This time also we were able to maintain our position on First rank of world 6 multimedia player. The Demand forecast accuracy was 98%. We set our price quite higher than our competitors with great awareness, PR and distribution of our product. This result may be being due to good marketing.

Things to improve next year

Need to spend more on advertisement and we should be careful about the pricing of ADV2 as its have been set quite higher than the others. The quality of the product needs to be improved.

Looking at the previous result we put the same price of the product for $790. We kept the advertisement and PR expense same as last year which was $3.9 million and $1.2 million respectively.

The retail sale of the product was 27,809,580 and profit after tax was $2,529,056. We increased the expense on branding by 10,000 and made up to $1.25 million. The demand accuracy was 91%. We decided to spend $1.8 million on efficiency and $1.7 million on quality to lower wastage on our factory. The awareness of the product on market was 52% which is more to focused and the profit of the product is average so better estimation of budget was required. The cumulative change in SHV is 17.6% and SHV increased to 23.32.

Things to improve next year

Need to spend more on advertisement and quality of the product needs to be given priority. As we decided to launch new product next year we should be careful on each factor. We should be also ready for hardship and consequences we might face. Brand and awareness is the way to gain more sales and to sell out the product.

Year 2022

All our team members decided to launch a new product this year on Road segment as well as will be continuing the mountain segment product. We decided to increase the price on mountain segment(adv2) and made an average price on road segment(tsumi). Making the higher price in new product is not good as there would be more risk. We wanted to run a business in a sustainable way. As new product was launched we spend 4.5 million dollars on the Efficiency & quality. Effectives and efficiency both are essential for the demand of the product in the market. If the demand is more then we can have more profit which will raise SHV.

The demand of the road segment was high than we expected so we lost sales of 22,322. It’s not a good sign and we were little bit disappointed as we were unable to make a good production view to accomplish the demand of the customers. We kept the advertisement expense same but increased in PR. The expense on PR was 2.5 million dollar and the capacity increased to 38000 and we spend 4.5 million on effieciency and quality. The brand index is 57% with PAT of $7,194,093. The SHV enlarged to 52.63 and cumulative changes in SHV is 125.27%.

Things need to be improved

We need to focus more on production as its been two years we were losing customers. In near future it might affect the status of the company as it will affect the profit margin. This is not the good for the company. The impact of losing customers and lacking behind on distribution can be seen.

Year 2023

This year we made decision of repurchasing equity of $4,760,000. We planned to redevelop and specified two products as well as launched one product. So, altogether we started selling three products which needs a good strategy to sustain in the market and be the number one company. The new launched product is in Road Segment named tsumi and priced for $2,250. We decided to increase the price of our product in youth and Mountain Segment as it is specified to $400 and $870 respectively. Although the price was little higher than other competitors we were able to achieve highest market shares in youth 7,480 lost sales and Mountain Segment without any lost sales. Unfortunately, we lost customers in our new product of Road segment which was not a good sign. Loosing sales decrease the profit of the company so we decided to focus more on our production so that we may not lose any customers. The quality of our product was comparatively high which is 94%. The internal capacity was increased by 8000 SCU. After the rollover, there was a dramatical change on SHV and got increased to 94.20 with profit of around 10 million after tax. We were happy that we are going on right direction with great decision making.

Again, we were able to gain our first position and we felt that we are still on the game. We understood ups and down is normal and rather than panicking we should try to make good strategy and be stable.

Things that need to be improved next year

Quality and distribution of the product should be enhanced

Year 2024

In this year we increased our awareness among customers and the focus on the brand, quality and distribution channels of our product. This time we didn’t lose any sales, so we were successful to achieve our target of fulfilling demands of customers with our planned production. The quality, quantity, brand and price may be the reason behind our great market share and awareness of products among customers due to advertisement. We decided to repurchase the shares of $1,898,089 with15.90 dividends per share. We spend $3.9 million for advertisement in Mountain Segment whereas 2.35 million for youth segment and none for road segment. Magazines were the best way to reach customers so for we decided to expense more on this for better result. The outcome after all our decisions and rollover is as follows:

The efficiency of the product was also increased to 96% and the quality of 95%. We were able to gain profit of $11,932,460 after tax with cumulative change in SHV of 45.8%and SHV is $137.39. We didn’t lose any customers this time.

Things that need to be improved next year

We should be careful on all the factors as we have launched three products so its very crucial to maintain the balance on all those three to satisfy the needs. We need more focus and proper strategy, budgeting, market research, and so on.

Year 2025

This year we decided to keep the price stable on youth segment as our demand was less than the firm 5 last year and we thought it might be because we were lacking behind on advertisement and PR so decided to increase expense more on those areas. We spend $1.25 million on brand and brand index was 0.62. We didn’t have any more equity to buy so we gave 15.80 dividend to shareholder. The efficiency and quality were 95%.

This year we were able to maintain our position increasing profit and cumulative change on SHV of 34.9% and SHV is 185.34

Things that need to be improved next year

Although we were spending 6.25 and 5.95 million dollars on advertisement and PR still we were lacking behind the quality of the product and awareness. We were even losing market share so should be spending more PR to attract more customers.

Year 2026

The price was same as previous year in all segments with a retail sale of $60,878,200 and a profit of around $15.58 million dollar after tax. The units sold as ADV2, tsumi, nsuma was 29,954,34,740,9,158 respectively. We were able to sell all products with a forecast accuracy of 95%. We neither increase nor decrease the expenses on brand awareness, PR and advertisement. Same as previous year we didn’t have any equity to buy. The total production capacity was 50,000 units which leads the result positive with SHV reaching 233.61.

I must say the competitions in the World 6 was so strong. We were chasing each other very wisely to be in the top of the world. I have kept few graphs showing SHV, profit, wholesale sale revenue, market share and so on.
