Book Analysis Friday Night Lights by Buzz Bissinger
The book Friday Night Lights by Bissinger shows Boobie as the main character not because of the fact that he most ethically successful not the most charming individual but due to the difficulties which he has encountered in his life and the season while struggling to make ends meet in the west of Texas. He faces various problematic issues and emblematic which can be deemed to be unfair for one individuals. He has come from the disadvantages circumstance which makes the Panthers squad situated in the west Texas (Chandler, Britton, Teegarden, Kitsch, & Mill Creek Entertainment, 37).
The author in his book employed a free indirect style which enables the audience to track the thoughts of the characters without necessarily accessing their thoughts. The author as well take notes on the characters so that the audience can benefit by viewing the events hindsight while combining the notes to re construct what the players thinks when they are playing during the games in a competition (Chandler, Britton, Teegarden, Kitsch, & Mill Creek Entertainment, 37).
Another character in the book McDougal who according to Tom Wolfe could term him as a good old boy or a white and a working class who originate in Southern Texas which is a largely republican in sympathy. McDougal has racial perceptions that some can be denoted as unenlightened. He as well is a very subtle thinker as well as a young man who is affected deeply by the environment which surrounds him (Bissinger, 92). These manifests itself when the Perminal States louses the tournament which makes McDougal to be devastates as compared to any other player.
The book as well described the schools situated on the east coast and particularly those at the Ivy League which is noted to form a kind of mythically other place and the players being on the Permian squad. The squad included the Winchell and the Brian Chavez who attended Harvard University. It is coherently described that Odessa is geographically distant from the east coast as well as culturally distant too (Chandler, Britton, Teegarden, Kitsch, & Mill Creek Entertainment, 39). The book also used an example of George W Bush that when he visited the midland later, liberalism is established in Texas with the reign of the supreme and the values aligned to the ruling party.
The other character who recurs more oftently on the book is Gary Gaines pep talks who is represented as a prayer who in all circumstances takes time to thank God for endowing the panthers with the abilities and great talents. It is coherent that such speechless have been designed so that it will make the panthers to feel good pertaining to the strength they posses in representing Texas. Consequently, the prayers are depicted to be the embodiments of the Christian faith which as well is very prevalent in Odessa. This further shows that the citizens look at the community together with their footballs and Christianity in the whole Texas (Bissinger, 92).
The book as well denoted Chris Comer as a foil for the Boobie Miles and just like Boobie, he is an African American and the success he has achieved as a junior Boobie is similar to the previous year. Comer, however, was less concerned with his personal achievements as well as his star status than Boobie as the book denoted. It is denoted that Comer together with his teammates won a title something which eludes Boobie together with the other 88 squad members. With this, the audience gains the knowledge of accessing the thoughts of Comer and understands al his performance and achievements (Chandler, Britton, Teegarden, Kitsch, & Mill Creek Entertainment, 40).
It is worth noting that the book described Boobie as supposed to be selfish which is a books touchstone despite the author seeming to be less inclined than the others such as the fans and the coaches to believe that Boobie is an egomaniac. Nevertheless, like the harness, the author denotes that Boobie was born to an enviable as well as impoverished in various situations which designed his success in the field. With such, he has been able to become a star all over Texas and stardom as a route to his success.
It is coherent from the book that the lack of strength of Gaine is a refrain which is spoken in the 88 season. However, it is worth understanding that it was not clear what the straight would be by comparing it with the others as Gaine worked his players very hard since he always demanded that they are practice list two times in a single day (Chandler, Britton, Teegarden, Kitsch, & Mill Creek Entertainment, 42). The predecessor of Gaine, John was also a grimmer and less social and perhaps that the fans confused his grimness for the higher intensity in coaching as well as being apparent.
