The organization was started in 2010 and is funded by the Social Investment Business and Brighton and Hove City Council and is generally based in the Brighton area locality. The organization’s aim is to create a sustainable resource centre that supports Black Minority Ethnic Community (BMECP Centre). In the Brighton area, there are several similar charity organizations that seek to offer similar services as BMECP Centre. The various organizations that can be considered to be competitors to the BMECP Centre due to a number of reasons include; Charity organizations offering support for minority communities, Charity organizations funded by the Social Investment Business and or Brighton and Hove City Council. Charity organizations that rent out rooms and or office space to residents and Charity organizations offering training and resource centres.
Hanover Community Centre
The Hanover centre offers rooms for hire to the nearby community and has been in operation for over 30 years (Hanover Community).
Patcham Community Association
The community centre caters for the Patcham Community in Brighton area. The centre offers room hire services to interested parties at a fee, the fee goes back to support other activities in the Patcham Community (Patcham Community)
Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project
Also funded by Brighton & Hove City Council, the charity was formed in 1981 and provides practical support, education, advice and more to the unemployed people of Brighton area (Brighton Unemployed Center Families Projects).
