2 PROJECT OUTLINE
Introduction and Background
Kingston-Bryce Limited (KBL) is a custom furniture manufacturer that specializes in hand-crafted
dining room tables. The organization has identified an opportunity to purchase a competitor that
also specializes in custom furniture. That will enable KBL to expand its operations and triple its
workforce and, it will take 18 months to complete. The project will undergo various phases for to
reach completion successfully. The success of the project depends entirely on the approach that the
project will take. That is a detailed outline of the project as well as the timeline of the project. The
stakeholders expect the project to start in early January the following year and end in 18 months as
planned. The management has recently approved the project to move forward for project initiation.
This project will result in the acquisition of the competitor.
Project Scope
Initiation, planning, execution, and closure of the acquisition of the competitor are the scope of the
project. This project will meet or exceed organizational acquisition standards and additional
requirements established in the project charter. The completion of all documentation, manuals, and
training aids to be used in conjunction with the acquisition are also included in the scope. Project
completion will occur when the acquisition of a competitor is complete. The project team members
will perform all the project work internally. The scope of this project does not include any changes
in requirements to the competitor’s firm.
Project Initiation
Project initiation is the first phase of the project management life cycle and, in this stage,
companies decide if the project is needed and how beneficial it will be for them. The Business case

and the feasibility study are two metrics that the project manager uses to judge a proposed project.
Also, the project manager uses the two metrics to determine expectations from it.
Project Planning
Project planning is the second phase of KBL's project that involves thinking through the project
and generating ideas that the project team will use in the project. Also, it includes creating a scope
statement, statement of work, project plan, and project schedule. The research will be conducted in
this phase as well as reviewing and approving the plan.
Project execution
This phase involves carrying out the details of the project plan. This phase needs to be effectively
implemented for the project to be successful. The outlined procedures created during project
planning will help in finishing the project on time and under budget. The project execution will be
a priority in this project. The project team members will be assigned clear roles and
responsibilities. The real acquisition of the competitor will take place in this phase.
Project Closure
The closing phase of project management is the final phase of the KBL’s project. This is the stage
where all deliverables are finalized and formally transferred, and all documentation is signed off,
approved, and archived. This phase will offer the project team an opportunity to review and
evaluate the performance of the project to ensure the success of future projects.
Key project stakeholders
These are the people that are involved in taking the project from the start to the end. The following
