Good afternoon everyone, I would like to discuss the applications of forecasting models in developing production plans (what type are they using?). Research shows that technology plays a vital role in today’s manufacturing and gathering data 24/7 with artificial intelligence is enhancing warehouse management to machine learning. The evolution of these concepts have drove the industry to new success for the overall bottom line. Just imagine if manufacturers a decade ago would have these technologies where would we be today (The Jetsons). With all the technology advancements, manufactures must not forget the risks that come along with the ease of technology. The article mentions in order to continue digitally transforming, manufactures needs to know about the four major risks that can deteriorate industry. The four major risks include cyber-attacks, third parties, data (stored/collected), and operation disruptions. In my mind, these four risks run parallel to each other and at a glance can collide with each other causing major financial and operational losses. I am positive that everyone in this class has received a notice in the mail or phone call stating that a company’s database has been hacked and the uncertainty of how much of the information was stolen. Just like us, manufactures are prime targets because of their lack/type of measures to guard against cyber-attacks. Even with regulations and strict “privacy” infringement fines manufactures cannot prevent data loss or logistical attacks from happening. In today’s malicious world, manufacturers need to be diligent increasing additional measures to monitor against outside control of information and abstaining during times of disruption of operations.
