According to Blum model of health determinants, there are four major force fields and these major force fields are very important. They are

1. Environment

This is the most important of all the four wedges in the Blum’s model. This wedge consists of physical, socioeconomic, sociopolitical and sociocultural dimensions. The relationship between health and socioeconomic status is that educated citizens earn more

income than those who are not educated. As the gap between the educated and uneducated in a particular area grows, the health status of the overall population gets worse. There has been that speculations that extensive gaps in incomes yield smaller amounts of social unity, increase in psychosocial stress which eventually leads to poor health. The physical environmental factor includes disease vector, food and water contaminants, radiation, safety hazards toxic chemicals, wastes and radiation. Other developed nations like the United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden do see wide gap between the rich and poor due to socioeconomic status. (Shi L., 2019)

2. Lifestyle.

Lifestyle factor can also be referred to as behavioral factor which is associated with health. Diet is a very essential role in modern days health challenges. Most of the diseases like stroke, cancer, diabetes has direct link to the choice of diet that is been made. The leading cause of death which is cancer is linked to diet. Alcohol consumption and tobacco consumption is another factor that increase the risk of lung cancer and coronary heart disease. Half of the cancer diagnosis and death are preventable by living a healthy lifestyle like a smoke free lifestyle, healthy weight and regular exercise. (Shi L., 2019)

3. Heredity

Some disease can be genetically transferred in a family though cancer is not completely genetic but occurs when genes can no longer overpower the development of caner cells. Cancer also occur when other genetic procedures stop working appropriately. When cancer genes are transferred to people, there is little that can be done. Advanced therapy genes now give hope of curing genetically transferred diseases. (Shi L., 2019)

4. Medical Care.

Medical care according to Blum is the least of the four important factors. There has been more focus on the medical researches and medical technologies which has helped in the decrease of death rates but increases medical expenses.
