BIOGRAPHY OF THOMAS BUCKHOFF, PH.D., CPA, CFE
Thomas Buckhoff is an associate professor of forensic accounting at
Georgia Southern University. He is also a partner with Forensic Solutions,
LLC—a forensic accounting firm specializing in fraud detection, investigation,
and prevention consulting services. Dr. Buckhoff received his Bachelors and
Master of Accountancy degrees from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D.
in accounting from the University of Kentucky. He is a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Previously, Dr.
Buckhoff worked as a senior forensic accountant for Eide Bailly, LLP—
Fraudwise Division, and as the Eide Bailly Professor of Forensic Accounting at
North Dakota State University. He frequently conducts anti-fraud continuing
professional education (CPE) seminars for organizations including the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Accounting
Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal
Auditors, Institute of Management Accountants, CPA Australia, various state
CPA societies, law enforcement agencies, and various Fortune 500 companies.
Dr. Buckhoff has also published a variety of anti-fraud articles in the Journal of
Forensic Accounting, Journal of Accountancy, Advances in Accounting
Education, Journal of Financial Crime, The CPA Journal, Strategic Finance,
New Accountant, Issues in Accounting Education, and The Fraud Magazine.
He is on the editorial board for The CPA Journal, served as Editor of Expert
Witnessing in Forensic Accounting (2005), and served as Associate Editor for
the Journal of Forensic Accounting (1999-2003).
PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY OF BONITA K. PETERSON KRAMER, PH.D., CPA, CMA, CIA
Bonita Peterson Kramer is a Professor of Accounting in the College of Business at Montana State
University in Bozeman. She earned her Ph.D. in accounting from Washington State University, and she
also holds an MBA from the University of Montana and a B.S. in accounting from Montana State
University - Bozeman. Dr. Peterson Kramer’s professional accounting experience includes working as an
auditor with KPMG in Texas, as well as the Montana Office of the Legislative Auditor. She currently
teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in auditing, advanced auditing, intermediate financial
accounting, and fraud examination, and is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management
Accountant, and Certified Internal Auditor. Dr. Peterson Kramer has received several teaching awards,
including the Montana Society of CPAs Jack J. Kempner Outstanding Educator Award.
Her research focuses primarily on accounting education and fraud-related topics. She has published
articles in accounting academic and practitioner journals, including Behavioral Research in Accounting,
Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Education, Advances in Accounting Education,
The Accounting Educators’ Journal, Journal of the Academy of Business Education, The Journal of
Accounting Case Research, Journal of Forensic Accounting, Journal of Financial Crime, Journal of
Accountancy, Strategic Finance, Management Accounting, The CPA Journal, and Internal Auditor.
She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Forensic Accounting and has served as a
member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners’ Higher Education Committee. She also served
on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Professor/Practitioner Case
Development Task Force, and the AICPA John L. Carey Scholarship Task Force. For several years, she
has written questions for the AICPA and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) to use on the CPA and
CIA exams, respectively. Recently, Dr. Peterson Kramer became the MSU College of Business Scott and
Barbara Heck Faculty Scholar, a distinction awarded for outstanding performance in teaching and
research. Shortly thereafter, she received the MSU Cox Excellence Award for recognition of creative
scholarship and distinctive performances in instruction.
