This article published by the gale group provides an account of the negative impact of offshore drilling on biodiversity and environment. The article starts by providing a summary of the impact of offshore drilling on the availability and prices of oil. According to the article, the prices of oil have risen significantly despite the offshore drilling exploits. Offshore oil drilling pollutes water and makes it inhabitable for aquatic animals. The destruction of aquatic ecosystem a result threatens marine biodiversity by killing a lot of birds and sea lions among many other aquatic lives. The practice has resulted in untold environmental disasters. Sometimes natural gas, oil and mud escape and find their way into the ocean contaminating the water. A record 3 million gallons of crude oil entered the Pacific Ocean. A lot of people lost their jobs and livelihoods but unfortunately offshore drilling stopped. This source provides important information about the impacts of offshore drilling in not only people but also biodiversity. This source provides a solid justification for stopping offshore drilling. The concepts of this article will be useful for my research as they will be useful in detailing the negative effects offshore drilling.

Savitz explains the deleterious effects of offshore drilling on environment, economy and biodiversity. The unjustifiable exploits have directly caused 11 deaths and rendered thousands of Americans jobless. Additionally, offshore drilling has destroyed natural habitats from marine life and destabilized the delicate balance on the ecosystem and biodiversity. Due to the serious effects on marine life, offshore drilling has forced many fisheries to be closed. As a result, offshore drilling has negatively threatened businesses which depend on fishing and tourism in various implicated states. Savitz reminds the reader that although the spill was arrested, the impacts of the spill will continue to wreck havoc into the future for decades. This source offers sound arguments and evidence that offshore drilling is bad for the environment, people and aquatic life as well as the environment and economy. This source will be useful in supporting my argument that offshore drilling is dangerous and unacceptable. However, this source appears biased. it only argues about the negative effects of offshore drilling and ignores the benefits. Since this article is in line of thought that offshore drilling is detrimental to the ecosystem, it only strengthens my belief that offshore drilling threatens the economy, environment and biodiversity. The ideas of this article are useful in my research. The article provides an account of the negative impacts of offshore drilling to environment, economy, international relations, people and biodiversity

This source provides solid arguments against offshore drilling. According to the article, offshore drilling encourages overreliance on old energy technology. Overreliance on fossil fuels increases environmental pollution which has detrimental effects to the climate and biodiversity. At a time when the international community is committed to reducing carbon emissions, offshore drilling undermines any progress. Any spills along the shore would have devastating impact on local wildlife. The article contents it is time the government stops wasting funds subsidizing fossil fuels but rather direct those funds to fair, sustainable, effective and efficient renewable and clean energy alternatives. This article is important for my research because it provides solid reasons for arguing against offshore drilling. The article makes convincing arguments about the detrimental effects of the practice on both living organisms and the environment. This article convinces me that the devastating effects of offshore drilling outweigh the unsustainable benefits.

The article considers the implications of deepwater drilling. The author argues against offshore drilling asserting that offshore drilling is not safe and is thus unnecessary. The article banks on the infamous BP deep water oil spill to demonstrate the devastating effects of human health and marine life. The article argues that for the good of the environment and biodiversity, it is important to temporarily stop deepwater drilling. This is in view that the actual impacts of deep water drilling are still not well understood. This article is important for my research as it provides arguments that support the argument offshore drilling is unsafe and should be stopped. This article can be good for a precautionary approach to the deepwater contentious problem. This article made me approach the topic with caution.

This article assumes an assertive tone that offshore drilling is too unsafe to be allowed by the United States. Arguably, offshore drilling promotes reliance on unsustainable fossil fuel. According to the author, offshore oil drilling does not solve the problem of energy scarcity but only offers a temporary reprieve to the energy shortage crisis caused by growing middle income class. Given oil reserves are increasingly being depleted, it is better to focus on more sustainable and environmentally safe energy sources. Offshore oil drilling promotes reliance on fossil fuels which is exhaustible and hence unsustainable given its environmental impacts. The article further argues that the offshore drilling should be delayed to allow time for lengthy assessment of the environmental impacts of offshore oil drilling. This article is important for my research as it provides more information to argue against offshore drilling. The effects of offshore
