PEERS RESPONSE:

Good Morning Class,

There is a language that is considered unacceptable or improper, like biased language that is information that shows prejudice, demeaning, or shows a preference for or against a particular point of view. Biased language usually refers to the use of words that intentionally or unintentionally offend people and express negative attitudes against a person's race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability, or illness. So, this type of language has no place in academic speech any other profession(Bevan 2020).

On the internet, there can be a lot of biased languages that go around. I, however, never see this type of language first hand, but I watch videos of people speaking out against the flat Earth. One thing that comes up for them is hate comments. The most common biased language is homophobic slurs. One of these people that speak against the flat Earth and use accurate information gets called homophobic slurs on this comment page on YouTube.

Biased language from the flat Earth supports that resort to slurs and name-calling shows that when they have no arguments left, slanders are all they got, and that will not win any debate or argument in a professional setting. Of course, it is just YouTube but trying to convince people of your view is the same. Using biased language will not help in any case.

The YouTuber has a reading of mean comments, and when he gets ones that use homophobic slurs takes it professional-like. he would say, even if I was, it does not mean I am wrong about the Earth. This shows that he will not consider it an insult and does not accept this kind of talk as suitable.

Why do people choose to use this kind of talk on the internet? Well, they can get away with it since they are behind a keyboard. Even though they can get banned from using that account, making a new Email and a new account is all they can do. If there is no lesson or any why they can take accountability, people will try to keep using this type of language until they learn what they are doing.
