One important thing about business intelligence that I have learned is the fact that through business intelligence it has become possible for managers as well as end-users to come up with better decision making and thus enabling the growth of businesses in the modern business environment. This is since it enables analysis of the business environment and thus giving very important insights that enable managers of the businesses to come up with important decisions and thus enabling the business to gain competitive advantages (Ali, 2017). The main reason that I choose this topic is because I aspire to start my own business after I am done with my studies and one of the emerging trends is the ability to come up with better and practical decision making in the current changing environment if a business has to succeed. Through the use of business intelligence, it would be possible to come up with better decisions that will make it possible to be ahead of others and this means better chances of survival. One surprising thing that I have found in this research is that although the use of BI has always been thought to be mostly used by large enterprises, SMEs have embraced the use of BI. According to Zhi and Guixian 2010, about 85% of all SMEs in China have adopted the use of BI for enhancing their operations and especially decisions making and I believe this is interesting as it has always been believed that BI is only for the big giants (Ali, 2017). My topic and the topics that other students have chosen have a close correlation since they dealing with emerging trends currently experienced in data analytics and agile methodologies which have enabled many businesses to thrive in the current dynamic era.
