Write a cause and effect essay using the test “Who Killed Benny Paret?” (attached below). Must be MLA format, 5 paragraphs and 7-10 sentences in each paragraph. Also a works cited page.

Identify the immediate cause, remote cause, short term effect, and long term effect.

Help:

· Immediate cause: Boxing blow to the face (initial action)

· Remote cause: What factors lead to his death?

What factors could have prevented death?

· Short term effect: Author focused on 2 remote causes. “change”

· Long term effect: Based on evidence what prevention methods need to be enforced

Graphic organizer:

· Intro: Include title, author, and date, authors thesis, and thesis

· Body: Brief info of the author that is found on document, and immediate cause.

· Body: Remote causes (specific investigation, factors that led to his death)

· Body: Short/long term effect (what should be changed in the present and what should be enforced in the future based on the evidence)

· Conclusion: Restate thesis, state your opinion and the authors opinion and close the essay

· Minimum 4 quotes and maximum 5 quotes from text as evidence. Make sure to follow each quote with a sentence and explanation.
