Introduction
Leaders are the drivers of any organisation. Leadership is the most crucial factor in driving businesses. Leaders can do a business or break a business. The right leadership style can lead to success or failure. Every team needs a leader to guide them to the right path. Employees are driven by the possibility of the right leadership style. In the education sector, teachers or instructors follow the school managers to lead them. Successful managers are very good leaders. However, there can be a huge debate on this topic (Alnoaimi, 2018). The effect of Leadership on the teaching staff can be critical to achieving the organizational objectives. In the educational sector, the goals are linked with the students; therefore, the right Leadership is critical for the institution. "Leadership is social influence process that is necessary for the attainment of societal and organisational goals; it is both conspicuous in its absence and mysterious in its presence – familiar and yet hard to" (Naile & Selesho, 2014). Leaders inspire their employees to do better and achieve better. They are the pillars of motivation. Motivation is one of the major physical and mental variables that influence profitability. The way toward accomplishing high profitability is a consequence of communicating powers. These powers incorporate yet not restricted to employees preparing and advancement (H.R.D.), the executive’s improvement, authoritative turn of events, execution evaluations, employees rewards, employees’ determination and enlistment, human influence arranging, and correspondence. Employee motivation is one of managers' strategies to increment useful occupation the board among employees in associations. A motivated employee is responsive to the unequivocal objectives and goals he/she should accomplish; thus, he/she coordinates its endeavors toward that path.
The research paper starts with the introduction of the research topic. It is followed by a critical review of the literature. Afterward, there is a description of the research objectives, questions, and rationale for the study. The research paper then presents the proposed methodology to answer the research questions and meet research objectives. After the research methodology, a data analysis section will present the results obtained from the data collection. The research paper will conclude with the discussion of the research results, the limitations of the study, and future research ideas. Comment by Wongp: Where is the aim and objective of the research? Where is the research problem? You talked of the need for leadership but how does this affect education? Hence, what is the problem?
Justification for the Research
The proposed research is important because of the valuable connection between Leadership and employee motivation. Leadership is one of the key variables which can drive a business to either achievement or disappointment. Truth be told, a leader is an individual who 'impacts' to immediate and facilitate the individuals' exercises from a composed gathering towards the achievement of gathering targets (Alghazo, and Al-Anazi, 2016). Without a vision and a compass, an institution is lost. Employees indeed need direction and timely motivation that a good job should be done. The employee's motivation is directly related to the organization's performance and the future of the learners at schools. Hence, this paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Leadership in educational sector to motivate the teaching staff to perform better. Comment by Wongp: Colloquial Comment by Wongp: So far you have not had mentioned were there any issues with the education area? Were their problems link to leadership/motivation problem? You have leadership as one variable, but you did not discuss clearly in Education as dependant variables? What are the problems that you can identify?
Review of literature
There has been extensive literature on the subject at hand. Numerous researchers have investigated the connection of Leadership to employee motivation, the effect of leadership style on morale of employees, and the effectiveness of a certain leadership on workplace progress. All of the research studies have yielded different results proving the effectiveness of Leadership on employees. In the education sector, leadership affects not only the teaching staff but also the students. However, this matter is out of the scope of this research study. Comment by Wongp: Name some of the rsearches Comment by Wongp: How are these literature have any contribution to the education sector? Were any research being done on the leadership link with education? Comment by Wongp: Too brief.
Employee Motivation
According to Wu et al. (2011), employee motivation has been seen as a fundamental component in business execution for quite some time. In accordance with this, a solid connection has been made by various advisors and scholarly specialists in regard to employee motivation and hierarchical execution, while different investigations demonstrate that around 80% of the labor force don't encounter motivation in the work environment (Islam et al., 2019). This, at that point, prompts low efficiency, as a separated labor force has a comparing cost to the business, subsequently permitting the subject of employee motivation a significant consideration for managers and human asset specialists the same. Nonetheless, even though a functional significance has been exhibited for employee motivation, moderately little examination about the leadership field has been done. Consequently, so as to get important experiences into employee motivation levels (Wu et al., 2011). Comment by Wongp: In what manner? Under what circunstances? Comment by Wongp: How relevant is this too the education sector?
Different leadership styles
In a study conducted by Olusadum, and Anulika (2018), the researchers looked at the connection between employee motivation and four leadership styles, in particular: traditional, visionary, conditional, and natural leadership styles. The surviving writing perceives the impact of devotee attributes in the leadership condition. Utilizing an example of 439 respondents, the investigation uncovers that employee motivation is contrarily identified with employee's" impression of the leader "s traditional and conditional leadership styles and is emphatically identified with visionary and natural leadership styles. These discoveries give valuable knowledge with respect to which Leadership style/s ought to be received by leaders and associations in advancing employee motivation (Olusadum, and Anulika, 2018). Comment by Wongp: Did they identify what style from yheir research? Comment by Wongp: What industry/ Education?
Essentially, Almansour (2012) recommends that when expanding and elevating the interests of their subordinates, leaders receive groundbreaking Leadership, which similarly works as an approach to draw mindfulness and acknowledgment of authoritative errands. This leadership style is described by leader-supporter associations, which are needed in achieving routine execution that the leader and the adherents have concurred on. The creator likewise specifies situational Leadership, which includes the requirement for leaders to get adaptable and socially discerning to have their conduct orchestrate with the situational requests (Yizhong, et al., 2019). This recommends that an adaptable leader can exhibit proper social reactions to a wide scope of circumstances. The creators advance that conditional, groundbreaking and situational leadership styles emphatically impact the bearing of the association, which is in opposition to Zheng’s (2011) discoveries referenced prior. Zhang said that value-based Leadership is adversely seen by employees. These discoveries are deserving of note in inspecting the degree of impact presented by leadership styles on employee motivation (Wu et al., 2011). Comment by Wongp: ? Comment by Wongp: Comment by Wongp: elaborate
The study has inspected the effect of various leadership styles on employee motivation zeroing in on powerful Leadership, which is another idea. Leadership is a significant recognition that impacts and propels people and groups. Besides, the focal point of this investigation is the medical care industry, which has complex collaborations, and Leadership assumes a significant function in propelling staff. In medical care associations, there are various sorts of difficulties that suppliers face, as their associations exist in a perplexing climate. Two such difficulties are the changing and different needs of patients and surpassing the desires for patients, alongside dealing with the issue of significant expenses of medicines and intercessions. Group motivation subsequently assumes a critical function in a medical services association. The writing audit demonstrated that non-budgetary prizes are a significant and viable method of persuading groups in medical care associations. Groups explicitly need the help and support of a leader. Hence, the proficiency and capability of a leader large affect the motivation levels of a group (De Vito et al., 2018). Comment by Wongp: So far did any literature identify any particular leadership style which impacts on employees’ motivation Comment by Wongp: What is the relevance with the education industry Comment by Wongp: How is this has any relevance to your case at hads?
The leader needs to utilize different methods for control, for example, little direction and complete opportunity, for the subordinates to take care of their issues and decide. This style is powerful when the subordinates are profoundly talented and inspired (Jensen, 2018). The leader stays accessible to the subordinates for counsel and input. This style is not valuable when the gathering individuals come up short on the essential information, experience to settle on the choices, or when they cannot deal with their cut-off times. Likewise, this style can prompt low efficiency. For this style, the leader needs to make trust and certainty with their employees (Lee and Raschke, 2016).
The significant element of value-based Leadership is restrictive or unforeseen prizes that are given to employees who have dominated in their territories of work. The prizes inspire employees naturally to keep trying sincerely and understand the association's expert development. Unexpected or restrictive suggests a shared exchange wherein the leader endeavours to propel subordinates through guarantees and rewards (Chait and Panatik, 2019).
Effect of leadership style on employee motivation
Further, in the current business climate, there is a requirement for dynamic Leadership, and leaders must be versatile and adaptable to work adequately. Significant leadership styles, for example, ground-breaking, conditional, valid, and worker styles impact group motivation. The ground-breaking, real, and worker leadership styles are emphatically associated with group motivation through value-based leadership style is discovered to correspond adversely. It is suggested that leaders centre around leadership styles that help to propel colleagues. Group motivation is viewed as an inborn reality for associations because multi-proficient groups will be needed to team up and take a shot at complex ventures (Salleh, Fareed, and Hamzah, 2018). Leadership will consistently be an essential component that will. The following leadership styles seem more suitable in an educational atmosphere. Comment by Wongp: You are drifting all over. You need to approach this review in a logical, systematic manner
Dynamic group motivation
Democratic Leadership
Authoritarian Leadership
Laissez-faire leadership (Al-Madi et al., 2017).
The elements of authoritative culture can encourage the connection between leadership style and group motivation in medical services associations. Leadership and group motivation are significant parts of the medical care industry and can keep employees upbeat and fulfilled.
This examination gives a viable structure for deciding the relationship between various leadership styles and group motivation in the medical services area. The structure likewise centres around the elements of authoritative culture and group motivation. Subsequently, this paper gives occasions to improve group motivation in medical care associations. Also, the paper sets up an unmistakable connection between leadership style (popularity based, dictator, and laissez-faire) and group motivation (Suyono, and Mudjanarko, 2017). Future examinations can zero in on creating different systems for exploring the connection between angles, for example, leadership style and employee fulfillment and joy. In this specific situation, specialists can utilize both subjective and quantitative examinations. This will assist with examining the significant subtleties of leadership styles and their effect on the different parts of associations (Ryan and Deci, 2000). Comment by Wongp: You lack a detailed current situation with education sector. Was the lack of motivation from management caused low morale, absenteeism and high turnover?
Bhatti et al. (2016) discussed that these employees of the educational institutions are the principal interface of the association that assume significant function to enchant clients and fill in as a key wellspring of an upper hand, on the off chance that they are truly persuaded. Powerful leaders comprehend and assume their functions in persuading the employees to accomplish authoritative objectives. On the off chance that employees are not propelled and dealt with through successful leadership approach which suite the workplace, working society and hierarchical structure, the outcome will be a negative effect on the picture of the college and furthermore lead to disappointment and loss of important employees and clients considering a serious and dynamic world (Bhatti et al., 2016).
A viable leadership approach is the primary player to make a fruitful association and undertaking a positive picture inside the psyches of employees through employee motivation. With this foundation; effects of leadership approach on employee motivation are convincing the consideration of analyst lastly giving discoveries to this exploration that help associations to be all the more clear about leadership impacts, as a component of their continuous activities and assessments concerning constant improvement, corporate achievement and turning into the best in serious market territories to take suitable measures through the criticism of the discoveries (Abadiyah, Eliyana, and Sridadi, 2020) (Fiaz, Su and Saqib, 2017).
In characteristic motivation, the unexpected prize framework is a motivation-based framework that gives uplifting feedback to an individual and urges the person in question to be successful in the consummation of their assignment (Robbins et al., 2009). This framework is probably going to make the great entertainers more roused, and even the less spurred employees will get persuaded with the best possible input and direction. The prize choices must bear some significance with the employees to be compelling (Purwanto, Asbari, and Santoso, 2019). Commissions and financial rewards are the most widely recognized compensations of this sort; however, free outings and excursions can likewise be viable. Variable compensation is a decent method for giving such rewards. The unforeseen prize framework must be of an incentive to individuals and urge them to meet their objectives. These should be organized appropriately to be of an incentive to the employees. Such prize frameworks work best when the leaders centre around upgraded execution and positive practices. It is the mental needs of individuals who should be fulfilled through their work insight. Individuals esteem the prizes that fulfil their specific needs. This fulfillment will be shown if the leader's relationship with them is through trust and straightforwardness (Ramlall, 2004). Comment by Wongp: Comment by Wongp: How to build trust? You only rely on one source. What other academic have had said about this? Was trust is a panacea for all issues?
Evaluation of current theory and practice
The theories implemented in the research studies are based on the leadership styles and motivation of the employees. Numerous leadership styles have been discussed, including charismatic, autoreactive, democratic, and others. Leadership is a cycle whereby an individual impact a gathering of people to accomplish a shared objective. “Leadership is seen as a quantifiable and quantifiable property had in various sums by various individuals. There are numerous basic highlights of the character of the leader, for example, certainty, mystique, or assurance” (Singleton et al., 2011). Certainty is the main component a leader ought to have for employee motivation to upgrade authoritative achievement and furthermore help ground-breaking, which thusly makes dreams in the psyches of employees with the goal that they can be spurred. A decided leader is an effective leader. Assurance reflects what the leader needs to accomplish and how he/she mean to arrive (Abbas & Asgar, 2010).
On the other hand, there has been integration of different motivational theories, which give rise to the evaluation of the connection between these two concepts. It includes Herzberg's theory, which suggests that many factors lead to the motivation of employees. It is surely an indispensable factor to guarantee employee motivation. If a leader is resolved, he/she will be able to conquer impediments in transit, for example, rivalry, conservative collapses (Ogboso and Amah, 2016). In a business, a charismatic leader can impact his employees by persuading them in a mental manner. On top of the charismatic characteristics referenced over, an effective leader should utilize "wealth attitude" to his style of Leadership. Such mindset is a bone profound conviction that there is a sufficiently regular and human asset to understand my fantasy and that my prosperity does not really mean disappointment for other people, similarly as their prosperity doesn't block my own (Guterresa et al., 2020). Comment by Wongp: ?? Are you talking yourself or the author??
Moreover, the concept of McClelland's Need Theory(YEAR) is different. He says that “every person has one of three main driving motivators: the needs for achievement, affiliation, or power”. Such a mindset permits a leader to figure out how to train him-self and accept that his central goal is conceivable to achieve (Susilo, 2018). Furthermore, if employees of an association see that their leader is sure about what he/she does, it is exceptionally conceivable that they also are more persuaded and subsequently more profitable. As per the detailed literature search and review, there has been no gap in the literature and practice. Most of the researchers have covered all the aspects of the variables and concepts (Li, 2018). Comment by Wongp: This is a direct quotation, what page did you get this quote from? Comment by Wongp: You have reviewed or in better words you have discussed various leadership styles as we know it. You also touched on motivation theory (if you review motivation theory you need to discuss Maslow and the hygiene theory). YOU HAVE NO review or any discussion on data regarding education industry! What makes you think the education industry needs better leadership?
Research Objectives
This research study aims at evaluating the effect of Leadership on the motivation of the employees. It aims to:
Evaluate the effectiveness of the leadership style of the existing leader in the respective institution Comment by Wongp: Aren’t ll these being done and well documented in various papers and journals?
Effect of the leadership style of the leader on the motivation of the employees to do their best and achieve the organizational goals
Examination of the effectiveness of leadership capability and employee motivation
Evaluating the ways of motivating the employees by current leadership style
Research Questions Comment by Wongp: How did yo arrive these questions as so far I did not see any gaps in your literature review. This is because you only describe what people said rather than critically analysis the literature
The research study aims to answer the following questions:
How is the leadership style of the existing leader being effective in the respective institution?
Can the leadership style of the leader motivate the employees to do their best and achieve the organizational goals?
What is the relationship between the effectiveness of leadership capability and employee motivation?
What are the different ways of motivating the employees by the current leader?
Statement of the Research Problem
The research problem this research study is addressing is the effective relationship between the motivation of the employees and the Leadership of the leaders. There seems to be no gap in the literature. However, there is no research done on the effect of the leadership style in the educational institution in this region (Heystek and Emekako, 2020). Therefore, this research will be addressed on fulfilling this goal. It will help these institutions to realize the power of good Leadership and to improve in certain ways. The research aims at asking the employees as well the leaders on their perception of the topic. Therefore, the research is unique in a way that it will have the story of both sides. Comment by Wongp: Do not make this statement. You have not found any gaps because of the depth of your LR. Comment by Wongp: Again do not make this statement as you have not READ or come across ALL academic journals. Say “It appears little research has be done…”
Statement of proposed research methodology Comment by Wongp: Use your 604 information, quickly summarised all paradigms and strategies in a few sentences for each AND justified why this quantitative method is suitable for this research.
It will be a questionnaire-based study. Different questions will be made up in order to send it to the participants. The research methodology is qualitative research-based study. The data collection will be via the online link provided to the participants. For the analysis of the data, different statistical tools will be used. The tenure of the study is proposed to be 2 months. The total number of participants is 45 so far. The sampling of the school will be random. There will be 4 educational institutions selected in case one of them does not allow the conduction of study in their school.
Evaluation of all ethical considerations
There can be different ethical considerations when it comes to research in the educational sector. And the research will evaluate leadership effectiveness; the employees might be biased. There can be hesitation among the respondents to speak up about Leadership. These ethical considerations have been considered for the research. Therefore, the questionnaire will not ask the name of the employee.
The survey will be based on questionnaire. An information sheet will be provided to potential participants to inform them the purpose of the study and that their security are guaranteed………It will only record their designation in the education institution (Lee and Kuo, 2019). This can allow the employees to give a fair and unbiased answer. All data are generatised for reporting purpose. At no time their identitiy will be reviewed. The Moreover, the study will have proceeded after study will carry an approval number as provided by from the ethical committee of the school. At the completion of the research, all relevant data and other materials will be sorted and stored in an archieve box and handed over to the Ethic Officer at Excelsia for storage for seven years. All the ethical standards of a research study will be met before starting the research on the subject matter.
Statement of Expected Research Contribution
The research study will contribute to the literature regarding the effect of Leadership on employee motivation in the education sector. It will help the learners understand the value of different types of Leadership. It can help the respective institution to implement the positive outcomes of the study. The research study can help the teachers and the leader of the schools to better analyse their leadership style and fulfil the shortcomings. The results of the research study can be implemented in similar scenarios and can help the other institutions to learn from them. It can help in the development of new regulatory policies to enforce the teaching institutions' Leadership. The research study can help in highlighting the best leadership styles listed for the medium-sized school facilities. The study can help in becoming the basis for further research on the topic. All in all, the research study can have theoretical and practical implementations. Comment by Wongp: Not very convincing
