Physical Activity- Any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles; requires expenditure of energy and produces health benefits
Exercise- A type of physical activity that is planned, structured, and repetitive bodily movement with the intent of improving or maintaining a component of health

Health- a state of complete well-being, and not just the absence of disease or infirmity
Life Expectancy- Number of years a person is expected to live.
Healthy life expectancy (HLE)- Number of good years a person is expected to live in good health. Subtract ill-health years from overall life expectancy.
Note: Life expectancy has increased by a year in America, but time lived with disease has increased by 2 years, indicative of a longer, lower quality life.

Cardio-Respiratory Endurance: The ability of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels to supply oxygen to the cells to meet the demands of prolonged physical activity.
Poor CRE can result in difficulty completing daily tasks such as shortness of breath after walking up steps

Muscular Strength: The maximum amount of force a muscle is able to generate on an object or load.
Muscular Endurance: The ability of the muscle to repeatedly exert sub-maximal force on an object or load over time.
Muscular Strength and Endurance fall under the umbrella term Muscular Fitness, which is used when referring to the strength AND endurance of a muscle simultaneously.

Muscular Flexibility: The achievable range of motion a muscle, joint, or group of joints can lengthen and bend without causing injury.
Poor flexibility can result in painful injuries such as muscle strains and tears. Also greatly reduces the range of motion a person can execute in their daily activities, rendering them less able to bend, twist, squat, and stoop. This could lead to a more sedentary lifestyle.

Body Composition: The amount of lean body mass (muscle) and adipose (fat mass) in the body
Body composition is perhaps the most significant indicator of the likelihood a person will develop a chronic disease such as Obesity, Heart Failure, or diabetes.
BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure which gives a numerical rating that places an individual in one of four categories; Lean, Normal, Overweight, and Obese

Note: BMI is a RATING that PREDICTS the likelihood of a person developing a chronic disease. Normal are less at risk than Overweight, Overweight less at risk than Obese, etc. Obesity (30+) is the HIGHEST RISK LEVEL, almost guaranteeing the development of chronic disease at some point in life.

Note:
A lower resting heart rate means your heart is not working too hard to circulate blood throughout your body. An overworked heart can lead to heart failure, heart attack, and hypertension.
An increase in resting metabolic rate means that your metabolism is higher throughout the day, even when just sitting around!
