Benchmark - Capstone Change Project Objectives

Introduction

Handwashing is an essential practice in healthcare that helps in controlling the spread of covid-19. Hand hygiene practices help prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses, prevent cross-contamination, limit cross-contact with viruses and other contamination. Handwashing training for health professionals helps curb the spread of Covid 19 in the health care facility (Ragusa et al., 2021). The change project is focused on improving handwashing in healthcare facilities through the training of staff members within the health organization. Therefore, this paper outlines the capstone project objectives on handwashing training for health professionals to minimize the spread of covid-19. This paper further outlines the relevant objectives and the comprehensive rationale for those project objectives. The rationale explains the role of those objectives in supporting handwashing in healthcare facilities and health promotion.

Project Objectives

Objective: Integrate handwashing practices within the health organization’s practices to minimize the spread of covid-19 among the diverse patients and the health professionals within the organization.

This objective targets the healthcare organization's current preventive practices for covid-19, cultural beliefs, values and reviews the possibility for integrating the recommended handwashing practices in daily practice. This objective will help in addressing the strategies to include handwashing best practices in the current organization's policies and healthcare practices to minimize the spread of covid-19 (Alzyood et al., 2020). Numerous viruses, bacteria, and infections spread when individuals touch contaminated surfaces and equipment within the health organizations. Handwashing is an effective healthcare practice for minimizing the spread of the disease, its impact on the health organization, and patient outcomes.

Objective: Describe the current recommendations on hand-washing practices in the healthcare facility to increase compliance, meet the cultural needs of the community and prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses.

This evaluates the current recommendations and best practices for healthcare organizations as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The health organization must then adopt these recommended guidelines in the daily healthcare practice and aseptic procedures to prevent the spread of covid-19 in the healthcare facility. The recommended hand-washing practices will form the baseline and the foundation for increasing compliance with the hand hygiene protocols focused on curbing the spread of the covid-19 pandemic to meet the diverse needs of the community. (Sands & Aunger, 2020). This is therefore essential for understanding the changes made in the handwashing recommended practices and integrate these changes in the facility’s practices.

Objective: Support nurses, physicians, and other health professionals to improve training on hand-washing skills in healthcare to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction of all cultural groups.

The rationale for this objective is to create a framework in the healthcare facility that allows nurses and physicians in the organization to be trained on improving their handwashing practices (Alzyood et al., 2020). Training staff members within the healthcare organization is important for increasing hand hygiene, minimizing the spread of covid-19, improving patient outcomes, and increasing overall patient satisfaction for patients from the varied cultural groups (Sands & Aunger, 2020). This will be essential for designing strategies to minimize the spread of the covid-19 virus in the organization.

Objective: Assess the current had hygiene practices to identify some of the systemic limitations affecting hand-washing for health professionals in the facility to increase nurse competency and to modify the interventions based on cultural factors.

The rationale for this objective is to evaluate the healthcare facility's current policies and frameworks for handwashing practice. This helps identify some of the barriers and limitations that make it hard to adopt handwashing practices and increase compliance among healthcare staff members. Identifying the loopholes is critical in creating strategies to increase nurse compliance with handwashing practices and minimize the spread of covid-19 (Sands & Aunger, 2020).

Objective: Describe the strategies that the health organization can take to improve handwashing for health professionals, decrease the spread of covid-19, and improve the diverse patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.

This objective outline some of the strategies relevant to the healthcare organization, covid-19, and the handwashing practices exercised by health professionals (Alzyood et al., 2020). Describing these strategies is essential for improving patient outcomes and overall patient satisfaction. This objective will be effective for outlining measures and protocols to minimize cross-contamination and the spread of covid-19. The strategies will determine the changes the health organization will make towards improving the preventive measures against covid-19 in the institution and supporting positive patient outcomes (Sands & Aunger, 2020).

Conclusion

Addressing handwashing practice in healthcare facilities is necessary for minimizing covid-19 among patients and health professionals. Health organizations must implement the necessary changes to integrate the recommended handwashing practices to curb the spread of covid-19. These objectives are necessary for implementing change within the healthcare organization and to improve handwashing practices to curb the spread of covid-19. These objectives address critical patient care areas, including improving nurse competency, improving patient satisfaction, increasing compliance, and improving patient outcomes in the health organization. By addressing these objectives, the health organization can create the right frameworks and policies that will help promote hand hygiene among health workers and curb the spread of covid-19.
