Philanthropy Project Benchmark (Roger Williams Park Zoo)

Why did you choose this organization?

I chose the Roger Williams Park Zoo because I love animals and I want to continue pursue in animals. The changing environment and human activities are threatening the animals and thus most animals are becoming endangered thus I love the zoo because it makes it easier for me to find a place to relate.

Have you had any history with the organization in the past?

Yes, I visited the zoo before and the animal collection in the zoo was appealing that made it easier to relate to keep making visits. The zoo has some unique animal species that one cannot find in any other zoos such as owls, komodo dragons. In addition, the zoo conserves animals in their right habitat specific from their regions across the world helping boost their behavior and growth.

How has the organization been effected by the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing

The organization is facing some of the impacts of the COVID-19 that has led to the zoo closing the visits from the public at least until 1st April. The public is not entering the zoo to help contain the virus that easily spreads through the much contact among the people.

Describe the contingency plan that the organization has in place for the risk (COVID-19)

The organization has made the stance to lock the public from the organization to help reduce the public contact that leads to the spread of the virus. In addition, the organization wants to maintain the level of cleanliness in the zoo with regular cleaning and wiping of surfaces after re-opening while providing hand washes and discouraging large populations at singular points within the zoo.

Describe how this evident (COVID-19) had affected the organization and events planned for fundraising purposes

The fundraising events have to stall or change their strategies in order to help improve the issue at hand. Most of the events have to focus on managing the impacts of the COVID-19 present because it might lead to a long term financial crisis at the zoo thus they should have contingency plans for a long term problem. The organization did not anticipate the coronavirus pandemic thus it is important to change the proceedings of the event to focus on the coronavirus.
