Being-in transports me to the world of the other, A sojourn, a dwelling.
Being-in
In the presence of this other person, I listen to understand And to affirm what is Just the way it is. an internal entering into the other's world. Emptied and purified of my OVITI private thoughts I am inside the other's feelings, gestures, glances Fully present, abiding in the other's world in a sustaining way. I hear the words, strong, clear words that express the pain and that point to possibilities that open pathways for a new and creative life. Being-in touches the pain, goes through the suffering, realizes the struggles to live authentically and to touch the essence of relationship. Being-in means in the other's world, connecting with what is and how it came to be, Being-in is human presence; it means caring and acceptance of whatever is uncovered or disclosed. (pp.81-82)
