Before the Flood

Q.1

“Before the Flood” documentary film provides an insight into what human beings have continued to destroy the universe. The most shocking outcomes of human destruction are the mass destruction of properties by the flashing floods as a result of climate change. The massive clearing of the boreal forest plantations to enable mining of tar sands in Canada is quite shocking. Human beings are more ignorant and economically driven without minding the consequences of environmental destruction (Richter, 2015). The mass release of fumes from the oil extraction and processing plants indicates the high level of pollutants the human are releasing to the atmosphere. He fumes released the constituents of the greenhouse gases leading to global warming resulting in climate change in the universe. The melting of ice is a threat to human survival resulting in flooding of the low land areas. The solution that provided me with the most optimism of the future is how Dr. Piers Sellers remain optimistic that people will certainly understand the confusion. Also, the uncertainty of the environmental destruction and realistically appreciate it as a threat that can be overcome by taking the best actions to deal with it.

Q. 2

If elected to the office to lead climate change actions, the first thing to do would include global political leaders to make commitments on how to achieve climate change actions. The inclusion of top officials from around the world to act as representatives in their own country to bring ideas and challenges faced by the local populations is essential. Addressing the leadership challenge of climate change with the top leaders is very crucial as they gave voice to the people and can facilitate change. Secondly, making negotiations on how to reduce the pollution of the environment and promoting sustainable economic developments that protect the environment. Giving world leaders the responsibility to express the political will of world populations on ways of tackling the challenge of climate change through concerted actions.

Q. 3

The election of President Trump in the so-called free-world was received by the world population as a blessing and a political leader that would change the world in all aspects. President Trump's statements and beliefs in climate change are always contradicting. The president of such a superpower country ought to help people to fight climate change, but his statements of refuting climate change as a hoax are misleading. President Trump is fully aware of climate change consequences. Still, he wants to please his country and encourage them to engage in economic developments to outdo the economically competing countries such as China (Park, 2018). Referring to climate change as "mythical," "nonexistent," or "an expensive hoax "created by and for the Chinese to make US manufacturing non-competitive" is to bring confusion to the population instead of supporting the fight against environmental destruction activities.

Q 4

The debate about climate change has been labeled a misinformation campaign. Though there is a lot of discussion of the topic, less has been done. The information has fallen on deaf ears of most of the big international producers. The producers form a significant part of contributors to climate change. On the other hand, the few who have adopted the information and executed it are reaping its fruits.

The film, “Before the Flood" has changed some of the adverse effects and image of climate change. Notably, the process of going around the globe, collecting information about climate change is one point that changes how people view climate change. The movement was crucial in establishing the problems human beings have faced due to climate change.

Q 5

Based on the efforts made by different stakeholders in fighting climate change, I am optimistic the future will be bright. Many governments in the world are implementing laws and policies that are aimed at reducing the effects of climate change. Further, world at large has been holding international conferences that are aimed at educating residences of world on the challenges we are likely to face in the future. Other organizations such as filmmakers have been revealing to the world the extent of the damage caused by climate change. Despite the efforts, on the other hand, I am pessimistic if the big industries in the world do not adhere to the laws and policies set, the future will be full of challenges.

Q 6

“Before the Flood is a film to watch. The film has employed a powerful tool of eye-pooping statistics, imagery, and myriad ideas. The phrase "Before the Flood" is by its imagery. The flood depicts the climate change that is causing flooding in the world. According to Eccles, Zhang & Hamilton (2019), the flood is facilitated by human activities that have changed the climate patterns in the world. The floods are facilitated by a rise in temperature that increases the melting of ice. The fill has also introduced the role of the corporate world in climate change. Michael E Mann is used by the film to depict a group of scientist who works round the clock to establish factors leading to climate change. The film is a game-changer to all the individuals interested in a sustainable climate.

Q 7

I have an interest in understanding the factors that result in climate change and have effects on humanity. One of the factors is increased water vapor. According to Sönmez & Kale (2018), water vapor has been ranked as the most abundant greenhouse gas impacting climate change. The other factor that I am interested in is carbon dioxide. According to Scaringi (2017), carbon dioxide forms a minor component of the gas produced during combustion. However, the effect of the gas is significant to climate change.
