Beer Supply Chain Simulation Online Supplement

Your goal: optimize the performance of the supply chain in the beer game simulation. The below steps show how to participate.

Once you have completed the beer game, record your performance. The student with the best performance will receive a perfect grade on this assignment. However, you must have proof of your performance by either recording a photo, screenshot, or print to pdf.

Step #1 – Participate in the “Beer Game” in class activity

Step #2: Go to the following URL ( Use Google Chrome): https://beergame.transentis.com/

You can access the “ Game” link at the top to get to the instructions. When you are ready, access the “ Start Playing” link in the middle of the page and choose “ Single Player.”

You place your orders by changing the number at the bottom right of the page and hitting the “ Order” button. You can see how your order affects your inventory and backorders in the cockpit. You also can access the “ Order History” button for more data. The simulation will run for 24 weeks, so you will need to enter 24 orders. When you have completed the simulation, you will be presented with a set of graphs.

Step #3: Save Graphs and Complete Questions

Once the graphs are displayed, print the graphs to PDF (you can also use the snipping tool) for all roles by selecting each role at the top right of the screen. It is best to print the pages in landscape mode. You will need these graphs to complete the assignment.

Answer the following questions

1. Which strategies did you employ?

2. Which strategy of purchasing and ordering resulted in the best outcomes for your organization? For the other entities involved in the supply chain?

3. If the strategy that worked best for your organization was not the one that optimized the supply chain, what does that tell you? What lessons can be learned?

Follow the instructions included in the  Beer Supply Chain Simulation (Online) Instructions  document to run the online simulation.  When done, complete the assignment included in the  Beer Supply Chain Simulation Reflection Instructions  document and submit it to this dropbox.

The submission fully addresses all four requirements:

· Thorough and well-articulated discussion of the Order Behaviour graphs across the four tiers of the supply chain.

· Thorough and well-articulated discussion of a minimum of two interesting issues supported and corroborated with a minimum of two graphs.

· A logical and reasonable answer concerning what the student learned  based on the concepts is provided.  The concepts are explained, and how the concept was learned from the simulation is discussed.

· The type of shock that occurred is identified (negative supply shock, positive supply shock, negative demand shock, or positive demand shock), and a clear discussion about projecting toilet paper market recovery.

· Graphs are embedded in the document.

· Grammar is reasonable without a major or large quantity of punctuation and/or grammatical errors.
