Assignment Overview: The purpose of this assignment is to gain different perspectives on leadership development and to contribute to a personal

philosophy on leadership development.

During Week Two: You will be reviewing the biographical information and personal testimonies of several noted people in leadership roles from

around the world. You will find a list of names in the back of your Bennis (2009) course book that you may select from. You will choose one (1)

of these individuals and write a 2 – 3 page (APA formatted) paper on that individual.

 These name of this person must be submitted to your instructor no later than Sunday (midnight) of Week Two in the Week Two

Assignment Drop box. o Upon approval, you may choose a person in a leadership role, not listed in the course text.

 Your 2 – 3 page, APA formatted paper, will be due in the Week Four Assignments folder before Sunday (midnight) of Week Four.

 You will present on this individual in class during Week Five. o Power Point, Prezi or other instructor approved visual medium is acceptable for your in-class presentation. o Your presentation should be no longer than five (5) minutes. o An APA formatted Reference page is required. o During Week Three: Your instructor will circulate a sign-up sheet with available time slots for the Week Five (in-class)

presentations.

Your papers and corresponding presentation should include the following elements:

 IDENTIFY: Identify a noted person in leadership role from the given list, unless otherwise approved.

 DESCRIBE: Describe this person’s current (and former if relevant) leadership role(s). o If you choose a person from your current or most recent professional/work setting, this will require an interview. (See

interview overview below).

 SYNTHESIZE: What conceptual skills (as described in Northouse (2015) chapter 6) do these leaders possess/practice?

 PERSONAL APPLICATION: What traits do these individuals possess that you might aspire to? How do they supplement or enhance your Personal Leadership Development Plan (submitted during Week Two).

 EVALUATE: Conclusion - What are your final thoughts about what you gained from learning more about these noted leaders? How does it relate to the course readings?

You must have at least three (3) references in your paper. Your course textbook(s) should be included among your references.

 Your paper must be in APA 6th Edition format. Post to the Week Four Assignments folder no later than midnight on Sunday of Week Four [150 points].

 Your presentation should include a Title page and References page. Post in the Week Five “Becoming a Leader” Discussion Board forum [100 points].
