To the regular person who were to analyze the sample weights of the bags, it may seem as if there is nothing wrong. The averages of each bag are only off by a few pounds most may speculate that’s not bad. However in this industry measurements are extremely important and if the bags vary in weight the customers will loose trust and take their business to a competitor. When you start to break down the bag weights by days you can start to see that we have an issue on our hands. In both observations the average was below the target of 50 LBS, the First observation being 48.125 lbs and the Second being 48.525 lbs. The average range from observation 1 was 3.45 lbs and in Observation 2 6.05 lbs. This problem needs to be resolved soon because if I was a customer and I received a product that was short over 5lbs of the product I need for my business I would be livid. That customer might having to end up taking a loss on the product that he needed your supplies for. I believe that the root to the problem was when in 2010 the Bayfield company switched to 24 hour work days. This forced the company to hire more new employees who had not received the proper amount of training that it may usually take because they had to fill a higher demand.
