Barack Obama’s Leadership Theories
Barack Obama is a real leader because of his ability and having a great personality. One attribute that makes him a leader is honesty. That is the power of someone capable to make his ethics (Weinberger, 2014). Obama gets the attribute because he cannot agree to anything wrong to him and he would get to his job and philosophies for the greater good of the nation, even if he is risking his career. Another feature that presents Obama, concerning international affairs, is his appreciation of the respect of different nations despite their time. This led Obama to help diplomacy, yet with nations that were considered violent, e.g., Iran.
All these leadership theories being discussed in the textbook, the most that apply to Obama's kind of leadership is the trait theories. Examining Obama in terms of this situational approach calls for a more detailed examination as it requires a thorough investigation of Obama's answers into different situations in his presidential career. This trait approach better applies to Obama. Take his traits alone, he is a competent human. He has the drive and needs to carry through his experience, and he has the powerful ways of translating the experience into activities. Obama also has the trust and mental power needed of the leader for him to be successful.
According to the contingency theory in leadership, various management styles can be more useful in other situations (Daft, 2017). In this example, during his administration, Barack Obama has been able to react to various situations with various styles. For instance, when he was traveling overseas, he was modest and heard patiently before he talked. However, in different instances, he demonstrated his strong place and pushed the car industry in the US to take some measures and modify their business activities. Eventually, he showed this reality that he is ready to be hard to achieve these changes he promised to take and overcome all types of challenges to make his promises.
Three Specific Leadership Traits
If I had to go up with one word to describe Barack Obama, the speech could be good. As anybody awake and conscious for this last decade will tell you, Obama has never, always lied about anything. That is why all these wise, cool people do the huge show of thinking everything Obama says and never questioning his commitment to the fact. Obama was a political outsider with good oratory talent, born to a middle-income household, a respectable home person with honesty and patience. Worrying about his fellow person to the point that he could forsake a high-paying job to turn into a welfare worker.
He is smart, which demonstrated in his ability to see people and conceptions (Behar, 2019). From day one, he had the experience for the United States, which he formulated eloquently any moment he was taken about it. Articulate extemporaneous words were the recognized attribute of Obama earning him a reputation for power. Certainly, his ability and desire to learn allowed him to see tough concepts. But he took another gift that power to effectively talk about these concepts with everyone from the farmers in middle Earth to the most highly esteemed and well-cultivated world individuals. He pursued politically with people by attempting to see who they were and what they needed from this Earth.
He is trustworthy, brave, caring and respectful. He owns all these traits. He got what it takes to be the president of the United States. He owns the minds, the thoughts, the loving personality, and the intention to be responsible and honest. He is a very sharp person. He is always dressed for success. He wants to make sure that he takes his jobs seriously for his peers and employees. He constantly attempts to make the best choice to change the system. He is outstandingly smart.
Three Specific Leadership Skills
Barack Obama's leadership qualities that give the people in him to compete are those qualities that every effective leader should possess. Ability, quality communication skills, a broad range of education, a multicultural setting, and an affinity for change. He has better communication skills because he has been successful at conveying his beliefs in them entirely to his people. This very general emotion of public speech is shared by introverts and extroverts alike. Yet, the number of known introverts is good public speakers such as former President Barack Obama (Cornett, 2018). frequently discuss the importance of public speaking for promoting the business, but I am not going to tell you overcoming this fear is simple. It takes a lot of work and a good deal of preparation and training (Rainie, L., & Anderson, J., 2019). Mastering public speaking can have a large effect on business development (Amadebai, 2020).
Three Leadership Behavior
He is a real leader because of his ability features and personality traits. One feature that makes him a leader is honesty, that is, the power of someone capable to make his ethics. He gets the attribute because he cannot agree to anything wrong to him and he would get to his job and philosophies for the greater good of the nation, even if he is risking his career. Another feature that presents Obama, for international affairs, is his appreciation of the respect of different nations despite their time. This led Obama to help diplomacy.
Barack Obama boasts of qualities and traits of effective leaders that have not only made him a statesman but also a leader with a high reputation across the globe. One of his traits is conviction and perseverance. In his first campaign as the president, his slogan, "Change we can believe in" shows a leader who is convinced that the time for change is now only if we believe in achieving it and this comes with the perseverance to keep going amidst opposition. He took a firm stand on many issues and one of them was on the UN resolution on Israel-Palestinian conflict in which everyone agreed with him. His argument was logical and well-thought-out (Hammad, 2018).
Obama embraced transformational leadership which is usually appealing to most people because public leadership is about being felt and providing service to the community. He just did not talk about it, he brought real change in his 8-year tenure which one of them being the Obama Care and the assassination of Osama Bin Laden (Hammad, 2018). While his critics may have come out to say he did not deliver on all his promises, everyone agrees that he delivered on most of them, especially the critical ones. The "we" attitude rather than "I" placed him at higher pedestal as a leader who believes in combined effort and collaboration with the citizens to achieve their mutual goals.
