“The exchange rate is the price of one country’s currency in terms of another country’s currency” (Gitman et al., 2018, p. 92). Review the monthly historical data on the exchange rates between the U.S. dollar and the Japanese yen for the years 2018 to 2020 (downloadable file: Exchange Rate Data ) and respond to the following requirements.
· Compare the yen to the dollar and describe any trends you spot. What period of time would have been best for a U.S. company to enter the Japanese marketplace?
· Given current exchange rate conditions over the past ten months, do you think Japanese companies are increasing or decreasing their exporting efforts in the United States? Explain why or why not?2
· Describe how floating exchange rates relate to trade potential and economic strength of a country’s exports and imports.
