I need a Background that is 2 pages written on low-income, at-risk youth, mentors, mentorship and afterschool programs. It is on the PhD level. The sources must be within the last 5 years and written in APA style. All work must be cited even if rephrased and put in your own words. Do not start any sentence with “this”. All references used please list at the bottom of the page.

Here is an Example of what I am talking about, so you know. Please see the comments in the document.

When learning to read and write, children from more affluent families may receive at-home tutoring or assistance from their parents, who generally possess more than adequate skills to coach their young ones. In addition, children from families with health insurance and medical care have more opportunities for diagnosis of learning disabilities or limitations. Without such identification and therapy, low-income children face a significant challenge to learning. Comment by Tammy Evans-Colquitt: How do you know this? Need a citation(s)

Undiagnosed learning disabilities may cause children to fall far behind their classmates academically. As these shortcomings multiply, children from low-income, high-risk families are unable to compete in middle and high school at the same level as their peers. When they view themselves as incapable of performing at required standards, they may opt to drop out of school, instead involving themselves in criminal activities. Afterschool programs assist children in building academic and social skills essential for academic and personal development. They also help to identify and address learning disabilities, which may remain overlooked without such resources. A properly structured afterschool programs may help decrease future delinquency in a more beneficial way than precautionary programs aimed at risk-youths who dropped out of school and have returned past their schooling age.
