Directions:
· Download the Module 2 Exercises Template in the Module Assignments Area.
· Type your name in the cover sheet.
· Type the date submitted (example: August 1, 2017).
· For each heading (example: Laws and Regulations) there is a sentence in the Module 2 Exercises Template to prompt you. Type directly over that sentence to follow the formatting.
· Your paper should follow APA format, and should be in your own words. Any content you take from a source must be inside quotation marks and must be cited in-text (author, date).
· In APA formatting, you are not permitted to use “I.” Instead, you must be an independent researcher. Say, “the organization” or “the salesperson,” not “I would.”
· You should list the references you used to develop your paper.

Complete the following question(s) and type your answers into the Module 2 Exercises Template in the Module Assignments Area.

3. Turn to pages 70-71 in your textbook. Complete the External Environment Worksheet for the following questions. Be sure to review Chapters 1-2 to ensure that you understand the key terms and concepts as they apply to the External Environment Worksheet. You should provide an informed opinion based on our reading and research; you must defend your position. You should answer each question below in 5-7 sentences per question. For each website you visit to find information, if you use that information be sure to put it in your own words and include that website as a reference in APA format.
a. Laws and regulations (pages 45-46): What are some key laws and regulations under which this company and industry must operate?
b. The economy (pages 43-44): How does the state of the economy influence the sales of this company’s product or service?
c. Technology (pages 44-45): What new technologies strongly affect the company you have selected?
d. Demographics (pages 46-48): What changes in population might affect the company’s customer base?
e. Social issues (page 48): What changes in society affect the market for your company’s products?
f. Suppliers (pages 53-54): How does your company’s relationship with suppliers affect its profitability?
g. Competitors (pages 50-51): What companies compete with the firm you have selected? Do they compete on price, on quality, or on other factors?
h. New entrants (pages 51-52): Are new competitors to the company likely? Possible?
i. Substitutes and complements (pages 52-53): Is there a threat of substitutes for the industry’s existing products? Are there complementary products that suggest an opportunity for collaboration?
j. Customers (pages 54-55): What characteristics of the company’s customer base influence the company’s competitiveness?
Management Strategy Assessment:
Turn to pages 70-71 in your textbook. You should provide an informed opinion based on our reading and research; you must defend your position. You should answer each question below in 5-7 sentences per question. Be sure to cite your source in the references page in APA format.
