Original Post 1 What is the problem of evil? Why does this raise a difficulty for the existence of (a perfectly good) God?

The problem of evil comes into play whenever the rational of a God comes into play. Moreover, it's the idea that there are countless cases of evil that occur on a daily basis. Some could have been prevented, some could have not been prevented. Now, it seems to just come down to perspective. Some evil may be for the greater good and greater picture. God sees all, and he knows all. Now, God is also perfectly good, more broadly, perfect. The basic question is how can a God exist when there is an abundance of evil happening every single day. I feel that everybody has a completely different perspective.

Not only that, everybody doesn't speak your language. People in Japan live the exact opposite when compared to the US in terms of how their society is ran. Their markets, streets, lighting, cleanliness, warm public toilets and everything else.

Original Post 2 What is the problem of evil? Why does this raise a difficulty for the existence of (a perfectly good) God?

The problem of evil arises from the idea that God is good and perfectly good. In Christianity God is seen as all-powerful, all- knowing and perfectly good. The counter-argument for the existence of a perfect God is the problem of evil. It is the fact that we have a lot of evil things that happen on a daily basis such as rapes, murders, child hunger, etc. Thus, how can we define God as being perfectly good if he is not ignorant of all the suffering that happens on a daily basis? This the problem of evil questions how perfect God really is if he allows for these evil things to happen. Some may say that bad thing happen to those who deserve it, which is why God allows this however, what about situations of young children suffering? What about the case of children that are starving because their family is too poor? How can we justify God allowing for that if there is no justification that those children are deserving of suffering from starvation?
