5 minutes: Introduction---Slide 1-2
I am a graduate from ……University with a …..degree in Educational Leadership. I have taught both in rural and urban schools in the United States in different schools for last 5 years. During my 5 years, I encountered different gifted students as well as learners with different special needs. I have been able to train teachers on curriculum development and differentiation for special education students.
10 Minutes: Scope and Purpose---Slide 3-5
Thank you all for attending this conference. It is my hope that we will walk together and get the valuable information am about to share in this conference that will change the lives of our student. The following goals and objectives form the basis of this conference. This conference is designed to discuss the importance and scope of autonomous learning theory for gifted students. Let us look at the definition of the word Gifted. As I have mentioned, ALM helps autonomous leaner to resolves problems or develops new thoughts by blending different thinking. Therefore Betts and Kercher developed the model to respond to students who require alternative learning environment. The primary purpose is to demonstrate how ALM helps students become independent and self-directed in learning. It will be evidenced that the five dimensions in ALM will be applied to assist gifted learners to understand themselves and investigate areas of interest at a deep level. 5 minutes. Why use the theory, effectiveness, how to promote and how to promote character education slide 5-9
Autonomous Learning Model presents the five major dimensions such as orientation, individual development, enrichment activities, seminars and in-depth study. These stages foster skills children need to be independent adult who challenges and contributes to a diverse, democratic society. needs that are not offered by the national curriculum When the model is used for a long period of time, a lifelong learning student becomes better and incorporates the theory of unconditional positive regard and empathy for all students. The reason I advocate for the implementation of this model in this school is that it is simple, easy to implement and practice. It fits well with school policies and standards of education program. Also, it is easy for learners because they need to draw their own experiences in whatever they are learning and then work in a pedagogical freedom and the absence of control. ALM is important in this particular school because modern education is shifting purpose to producing individuals who demonstrate independence in thought and action, think rationally, and are capable of critical participation in the societies they live in. The model is less cost effective because it requires little effort to implement and practice. What is required is the corporation of the teachers and the learners to achieve a common goal for learning independently. Thank you for listening actively and your time.
