3

Problem Statement

To assess and resolve the gaps in implementation of Li-fi in order to improve wireless network experience, thereby improving the quality of life in smart cities to overcome challenges of nowadays for a brighter future.

4

Research question

Exploring the gaps of Li-Fi as opposed to the capabilities of Wi-Fi within smart cities: Why Li-Fi?

5

Objectives: Research aim (Our 3 I’s)

01

Identify factors of the effect of Li-Fi in the quality of life

02

Implement an improved Li-fi prototype

03

Improve the implementation plan recommended to smart cities

6

Significance

7

SDGs

The vision 2030 aims to enhance the kingdom with a variety of programs, some of those programs that aligns with our project is the quality of life program and the national transformation program.

Vision 2030

What makes our project significant makes it different?

Li-Fi is technology that can be enhanced in variety of programs.

Starting with the sustainable development goals the project most aligns with goals number 7,9,11

7. Which is the affordable and clean energy, as we will be implementing the lifi technique by the use of solar energy.

9. Which innovation, lifi is considered as a new technology which utilizes light to transmit data.

11. Goal 11 is about "sustainable cities and communities

Moving on to the vision 2030, The vision 2030 aims to enhance the kingdom with a variety of programs, some of those programs that aligns with our project is the quality of life program which aims to meet the population's needs, and the national transformation program achieving Governmental Operational Excellence, and Enhancing Living Standards.

Lastly for the clients we are still in search for our clients but so far our project will mostly help

Contributions

The project aims to fulfill 4 main aspects, which are

Analyzing the issues with the implementation of technology

Assessing the existing gaps and resolving the issues.

Impentating plans for different industries

Lastly is preneting a prototype.

Qualitative

Data

Experimental Methodology

Analyzing the challenges in implementation of such a technology and propose solutions.

Qualitative: Finding previous research journals and their findings of gaps and benefits.

Quantitative: Comparing the capability of Li-Fi through the right software and hardware design in smart cities

So now moving on to the most important part in any research paper which is the methodology. In this paper we will be using 2 methods which are the mixed method and experimental. a mixed methodology, which means both quanti and quali. qualitative in terms of finding previous research journals and their findings of gaps and benefits and Quantitative data in terms of comparing the capability of Li-Fi through the right software. And lastly the experimental methodology in which we will implement the lifi through arduino and packet tracer using the program language c++.

Experiment

emerging technology is leading to an increase in wireless communication.

Li-Fi is being tested to overcome limitations and drawbacks of RF based wireless spectrum.

Li-Fi Challenges: not able to pierce walls, bricks etc.

Lifi can be integrated in many things: Smart cities.

Li-Fi uses light bulbs as a medium for high speed data transmission and also that is not visible to human eye.

Li-Fi advantages: high data rate transmission

Limitations

01 02 03
Internet cannot be used without a light source. A whole new infrastructure for Li-Fi would need to be constructed. Sunlight will interfere the signals, resulting in interrupted Internet.
