Major General Petraeus exercised proper and well thought out Mission Command while
conducting the mission of the 101st Airborne Division which was to address the destruction that the city was experiencing, and to secure the city. That invasion has not only effected the world but the government of Mosul has took a complete change. The streets were in chaos, the police and other security forces were nowhere to be found for security and safety for the people. I fully support this statement to be true because even though he and his team had a lack of resources, they were still able to facilitate a shared understanding of the intent, and the mission, which resulted in a the successful establishment of some democracy for Mosul, created more employment for the citizens, and re-established the trade in Mosul.
The Implementation of Mission Command
The Re-establishment of a Democratic Society
The Establishment of Employment for Mosul Citizens
Conclusion
Even in the midst of all the trials faced by Major General Petraeus as it relates to problems with ORHA and Mosul local tribes, he and team were still able to accomplish bringing so normalcy to Mosul, and to facilitate a shared understanding of the situation, mission, and intent, with his subordinates and with the Mosul community. Major General Petraeus implemented the six principles of mission command which made him successful in establishing democracy and employment for the citizens of Mosul.
