In the article “Negative effects of technology on children of today,” Yasser (2016) discusses how today’s children have been negatively been affected by media use. In his discussion, he concentrates on how playing videos games and watching videos in computers, internet, social media mobile screens and television affects children’s health (mental, physical, social and psychological). He bases his arguments on literature materials and his own findings.

Yasser (2016) says that watching videos and playing video games for a long period leads to isolation and unsocial children. He claims that most children spend time alone on the electronic gadgets, which replaces time that would be used by children to socialize with other children. Therefore, they do not develop social skills like being patient/tolerant with others, being honest and being true to themselves and others. In addition, he says that when children spend time alone, they learn to enjoy their own company and if the videos do not excite them or meet their needs, they are depressed, anxious and in extreme cases they can suffer from neurosis

The article also claims that their videos sent in social media by predators to lure children and take advantage of them. Yasser (2016) says that predators send pornographic materials and violent videos to children, which could incite them to engage to sex at a tender age. In addition, when they watch other children’s lifestyle they become cold to their parents because they think that their parents do not love or care about them to provide comfortable lives.

Lastly, the author argues that exposing children to violent videos games and films leads to aggression behavior. He claims that children learn by seeing and hearing. Hence, they tend to pick wrong traits like stealing and smoking that are praised in the videos, which slowly develops to a behavior. In addition, he says that such videos instill fear to walk at night, be true for fear of being betrayed and other things.
