Tourism Form Research Assignment:

Tourists seek out various types of adventures based on their personal areas of interest. There are dozens of different forms of tourism. This research assignment allows you to take a deep dive into one specific form of tourism and then to present what you’ve discovered to your classmates.

Assignment Details:

· This is an individual assignment.

· You will choose a type of tourism from the list provided. This is on a first-come, first-served basis, the Google Doc will be updated to show who has chosen what. Note: If there is a form of tourism that you want to explore, but that is not on the list, please ask your instructor before proceeding. Tourism is always evolving, and with it, the types of tourism.

THERE ARE TWO PARTS TO THIS PROJECT

Part 1

WRITTEN REPORT (37pts)

The report must include the following:

1. Provide a definition of your chosen tourism type. This should be a direct quote from a credible source (Wikipedia is not an acceptable source). This means the definition should be citied, with an APA citation following the definition

2. What does this form of tourism include and entail? Is it a new trend or has it existed for a long time? In other words, what is it all about? (approx. 250 words) 4pts

3. Who is generally attracted to this type of tourism and why do they do it? 2pts

4. Where is it most commonly practiced? Certain countries or regions, types of locations? Is there an area in particular that specialize in this type of tourism? 2pts

5. Find a tour operator that offers this type of tourism. Then provide: Name of tour operator, the name of the tour, HTML link to the tour description: 1pt for having all three things

6. Explain, in your own words, what are some of the positive and negative aspects, potential positive and/or negative impacts, or criticisms of this type of tourism? (approx. 175 words) 5pts

7. Use DROPBOX to deposit your assignment. Label it Assnname_yourform_yourname

FORMAT: Use APA styling (Cover page, intro, body, conclusion, references)

Part 2:

THE PRESENTATION (16pts)

· Using the Audio Visual method of your choice (recorded PowerPoint is recommended), record a 3 slide (plus intro and references slide, 5 slides total) presentation.

· You must educate your classmates on your form of tourism. It is up to you to select the content and the appropriate visuals to transmit the information.

· You will have a maximum of 5 minutes to present.

· Deposit your presentation in the Discussion forum. Remember to compress images to minimize the file size.

This assignment is worth 30%

Late written assignments will be deducted 10% per day (weekend counts as 2 days) and will not be accepted after 4 days.
