PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Support and assist the Director in managing the operations of Child Nutrition Program to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations while providing nutritious meals to all stakeholders. Specifically oversee operations of office staff and procedures, software systems, and nutritional adequacy, quality, and acceptability of all meals served. Assist with fiscal and personnel management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Foodservice Management, Dietetics or Business Texas Association of School Nutrition Certification level 5 Preferred Registered and/or licensed dietician a plus
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Manage Student Nutrition Office Functions:
1. Oversee menu planning and food purchasing processes to ensure
compliance with all dietary requirements, TDA and USDA regulations, legal requirements, and cost control.
2. Assist the director to ensure that the Student Nutrition office and operations
are supportive of instructional goals of the district.
3. Maintain written procedures of cafeteria and office activities and processes.
Fiscal Management / Financial Accountability / Facilities Management:
4. Determine commodities to be purchased annually to maximize PAL dollars
and maintain control of food costs and oversee the efficient utilization of these commodities
5. Meet with Vendors to select foods for testing and/or purchasing.
6. Assist with preparation and administration of the budget and monitor
throughout the year.
7. Oversee consolidation of monthly data from POS system into financial and productivity reports.
8. File monthly claim with Texas Department of Agriculture for reimbursement.
9. Assist Director with determining a la carte pricing to cover costs and profit
margin
10. Assist Director and Field Supervisors in selecting and purchasing food service equipment and designing facility upgrades.
11. Plan and Oversee Summer Food Service program.
Implement/Maintain System Software
12. Oversee the upgrades for district level POS and office software annually and
as needed.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES CONTINUED:
13. Ensure software programs are operating with compliance to all laws and regulations.
14. Monitor utilization of software systems to ensure compliance and efficiency,
including POS, all back office software, free and reduced application processing, inventory and nutrition analysis.
15. Liaison with software companies and the District Information Technology
Department
Personnel Management:
16. Cooperate with Elementary and Secondary field supervisors to mediate
grievances between personnel within the department.
17. Interview, recommend for hire, and train substitute personnel.
18. Oversee Catering Manager and Lone Star Grill staff.
19. Maintain database documenting Professional Standards training and TASN certification levels of all Student Nutrition staff.
Professional Development:
20. Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative
techniques, changing laws and regulations.
21. Plan In-Service training for food service personnel.
22. Attend seminars and classes to increase and maintain knowledge of laws that govern personnel management.
23. Other Duties as Assigned
